I've been laid-up due to minor surgery and my son inadvertently bought and fed medicated feed to the boys set for slaughter. They have been on it for 5 days.
How long should I keep them on it and how long after feeding them non-medicated feed can they be butchered?
I had a Partridge Rock roo with a Buff Rock and a Barred Rock. Thought I'd see what would happen.
Here they are as chicks.
Today at 11 weeks.
Cockerels look almost identical.
Pullet a beautiful iridescent black.
I may try the cross again to get mates.

I set these eggs based on an order from someone on Craig's List and when they hatched he never returned my calls.
I have enough right now so would like to place these in a good home.

I found one of these for $100. A year old.
Anyone familiar with these? Can you do smaller batches? 20-30? How does lock-down work or is using a hatching bator better?
Thanks for any input!!
Will a chick make it out if the pointed end is pipped??
Looks like two of 7 are doing that.
I've got another 17 due Saturday/Sunday - should I adjust there positions before then? They went into lock-down last night.
First time hatching and when I move the first batch into a lock-down bator I candled and noticed a couple were dark in the middle but light showed through the pointed end. Are these dead?
Also the air sack looks a little on the small size - what problems could that cause?
Thanks
I purchased these guys last spring as chicks from a small farm that raises these and Buff Rocks. I think they are handsome. They were a little anxious as I took the photos and are standing more erect that usual (24" tall). Tell me what you think.
Thanks!!
I'd like to find two sources of hatching eggs for both Silver Penciled and Blue standard Rocks to start breeding pairs of my own. As soon as we are done with our remodel next month I will be purchasing an incubator. So anytime after the end of February would work out good.
Trying to plan...
