    I think my girls are almost ready to start laying. All they need is some more daylight I figure. Should I open the nest boxes that are in their hen house before they start laying? Or will this invite a mess in the nests?

    So I built a small coop for my now three BOs. It's roughly 4x4x4 and sits on 30" stilts. When folks suggest roost height is it measured from the ground or the floor of the henhouse?
