My Cream Legbar Roo suddenly died and now his hens are lonely. I would like to hatch some legbar eggs. Does anyone know where to get one? I'm willing to drive anywhere from Huntsville, AL to Nashville, TN or surrounding area.
Thank you so much!
Yup. I didn't think it was possible. My hubby and I thought we heard it yesterday, but today the little guy just crows and crows. I didn't think they would start to crow until they were at least several weeks old, thats how every other batch of chicks were ? I should get a video of it
I was wondering what some of my EE's are that I just hatched. Thank you so much!!!
1) This little guy is much bigger than all the rest of my chicks. I love his multicolored feet.
2) This ones half black/grey on the top and yellow on the bottom
3) This little one is the smallest...
This is my first time hatching and I was wondering (and getting nervous) if I should have heard something or seen my little eggies moving? I am on day 19 now, tonight at 8 pm will be the start of day 20. Thank you so much!! All of you have been so helpful!
I am on day 11 and I have 30 eggs set. I just candled them and it now looks like almost all of them have detached air cells. What should I do for them? Have them upright? They were shipped eggs and I waited 15 hours before I set them. Will they not hatch if they have detached air cells? In...
I am on Day 8 with my Welsummer and EE eggs. I candled them tonight and I weighed them. Their weight is right on track with a 5% weight loss, but most of their air cells seem large, not like the pictures under the sticky for this forum, they seem more like they would be day 12 or so. Also...
I just can't do it. I know I sound like a wimp, but I just can't lol. Can I take the roosters somewhere to be killed and processed and such? I live in Northern AL/Southern TN.
Thank you so much!
I am still new to raising chickens. This is our coop my husband built. I let them out everyday to run around and when I want them to go back in I snap my finger and point at the coop and they all run in.
My neighbor saw this yesterday and told me that hes never seen that before and he used...
I think I lost the gamble and got 4/4 roosters lol. What do you guys think? Also, I'm not sure what breed a few of them are. Thanks a bunch!!

One of my week old chicks is making a squeaky/whistling sound every time she breathes in and out. Its very audible and I don't know what to do about it. So far she is eating/drinking still, but she has been very subdued today compared to the others.
Has anyone else experienced this? I am...
Just to update for those of you who were asking, we did get our power back! So excited! Thank you so much for all of your responses regarding how to keep our chicks warm without power during the Al disaster.
I live in the Huntsville Al area where we got completely annihilated with tornadoes. We have no power/working cell service with gas and food shortages. Surprisingly I have 3g on my phone lol. What can I do to keep my two- 2 week old chicks warm?? I love them and don't want them to die.
I got my chicks from the local farmers market specifically asking for Easter Eggers. Recently someone told me mine weren't Easter Eggers Can anyone tell? (And maybe tell if they are hens or roos?)
First day in the garden
Ruby- very red from the top
Lily- Some people think this one is a...
I was wondering if anyone has used an automatic door for their coops? I have seen several online and we are going to implement it into our coop design, but we are not sure which one is best?
Does anyone have any experience with these? Thank you
My husband and I were specifically looking for Easter Eggers and we found some at a local farmers market. However, someone recently told me that mine were not Easter Eggers. I was wondering if anyone could tell if they are or not. Sorry for the picture quality, they are so quick its hard for...
I was wondering when I can bring my baby chicks outside with me while I garden for a little bit? It's in the mid 70's outside. I have 4 chicks in my brooder ranging I think from a little over a week to 2 1/2 weeks. I should post pics, I am actually not sure how old they are as I got them from...
I have been reading the forums quite a bit and some people talk about their chickens being dewormed/vaccinated. Am I supposed to take them in to be dewormed? I am planning on feeding them the medicated feed with amprolium when they are around 4 weeks or so when they will start having visits...
I have been looking on the internet for almost 3 days straight for the perfect coop for our needs. I think we have are set upon an A-Frame coop, but the more I look at them I think the more undecided I get
My husband just wants me to pick one and give him either blue prints or pictures of it...
