We somehow managed to get 3 silkie roosters in our flock, by accident. They're just coming to maturity now, and they're not aggressive at all. They're free to a good coop!
This morning we noticed a hen in the nest box acting strangely and she has a significant amount of blood around the vent area. Is she possibly 'egg bound'? If so, if there is blood is there any chance we can save her?
Does anyone know the proper Tylan 50 dosage for a turkey? Or a ballpark amount I could give that would be safe? I am treating the symptoms described here:

Thanks!
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Red Bourbon Turkey, Female, Maybe 10 months old, Normal sized.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Acting like it has a cold. It was 'coughing' kinda instead of its normal annoying noises...
Cross posting hoping for some extra help, as I posted it in the wrong place first.

One of my chickens which was introduced to the flock the other day has been pecked at a lot. It has a decent sized open wound on the back of its neck. I have separated it, sprayed it with antibiotics and wrapped it, but I don't know what to do now. I am trying to keep it warm currently. Help!
Hey everyone! We got our first egg last week! Since then, there have been four more, but from different chickens. So far there are small white, small brown, and large brown. We cracked open the first egg and the shell seemed fine and the yolk and white looked normal. Is it alright to start...
Hey all... couple questions. Do turkeys 'roost' up high like my chickens do? This is the first night with my turkey being in with my chickens, and I'm just curious. Also, others whom have mixed flocks, what do you feed yours? I'm currently using purina flock raiser which i think is fine for...
Hey all, we currently have 9 chickens (plenty of room for more) and are considering adding a turkey under the hopes of it being extra tastey around the holidays. We ran the idea by the kid who approved it, and would be naming it Dinner so that he doesn't forget its going to get eaten. I assume...
I have 6 chickens in my coop currently (only like 9 weeks old I think) and have a rather large waterer. Do I need to change the water out often or is it fine as long as it stays clean and theres plenty of it?
4x16 coop, run underneath, which will extend out the far end and wrap around the garage. Built in external egg boxes. Still under construction... hopefully it'll be done this week (if it stops raining long enough to put in more than 3 nails)... suggestions more than welcome...
If the pop door is located within a secured and covered run, does it need to be locked at night? I feel like it may not need to be since if they're inside the run the chickens are probably toast anyways. Anyone with experience or advice on this? Thanks!
We don't know exactly how old these guys are, anyone have a guess? We've had them 3+ weeks. Do they look old enough to take the heat lamp away? We've already raised it up a bit from where it was originally.
I'm not sure why they're sideways
I'm considering building a coop on a slight grade. When putting in the base posts, do they need to be set in concrete or can they just be dug in a bit? I know with a deck or what not that a person would actually be on they would need to be properly setup, but im curious if anyone has...
We're in the process of designing/building a coop that will be located in upstate NY (Capital Region Area). In the winter it can get quite cold (sub-zero on the coldest nights in the winter). Do coops require insulation in climates such as this? Does a heater inside on a thermostat suffice...
Hi,
We're doing this for our first time and have realized that we've misjudged our coop needs for the 6 chickens that we are currently raising indoors. The coop we have it the handcrafted coops small portable coop.
My idea is to basically raise the entire thing by creating a square (or...
Hello everyone, my boyfriend and I purchased 6 chicks yesterday from Tractor Supply. We had initially set them up with standard heat lamp in a fairly large circular, metal bin. When checking on them this morning we found that one of them had been pecked at the back of the neck. The chick could...
