Most places offer 3 choices for layer feed: pellet, crumble, and mash. All are layer feed, what you get is determined by what your chickens like.

    Low Protein Feed

Southern States has an All Grain Maintainer feed. 14% protein meant for post production layers and breeders. It's not organic, but at least it's all grain, which is the important thing. Also about $3 cheaper per 50# bag compared to layer feed

Should I get more hens for one of my roos?

Depends on the Rooster, I have one Silkie rooster that has 1 Silkie hen and he is happy as can be, the big Lavender Orp rooster looks after the others. The don't ever fight but judging on personality I am betting the Silkie would win in a fight... I'd give it a try but there is no telling if...

    New Chickens... :)

That's a lot of red for a Black Sex-link, also thought bsl's legs were yellow

    what breed?

Yet another reason I don't like hybrids... Yes, could be EE as the definition of EE is a mutt chicken that lays colored eggs. No way to tell until it lays, if a hen. But by that logic: why is there such a thing as an EE rooster?
  14. Intetdreamer

how do you tell if a baby chick is a boy or girl?

Yet the caveat to sex-linked hybrids compared to heritage breeds, egg laying problems occur more often, and the don't lay much at 2-3 years old. Different strokes for different folks.

Japanese Bantams? They have feathers on legs

Could be crossed with D'uccle bantams, would explain the beards
  16. Intetdreamer

    what breed?

    Pink legs on #2=not EE

    What breed is this bantam?

Feathers look too soft to be OEGB, I'd hazard a guess at mixed Orpington bantam.
