A glimpse of my life with my Girls

Well I have accomplished my goals. Was able to figure out a new run for the girls and it has worked out nice. So much more room. From 6x8 to 11x8. I also had babies that seemed like forever, but...
HENSPA
CHICKEN COOP
2007
2011
Well I guess you could say I caught the fever. More chickens, means more space. I don't move the Henspa hardly anymore. Makes it easy to clean the deep litter method, when I need to though. The fence is easy to move if I need to. Love my girls still and...
I like the post from AV Brahmas. It makes sense. I live in Nebraska and haven't lost one of my girls in four years because of the cold, drafts, etc. Here is my coop. Wide open below and open on both sides(north and south) on the underside of the roof. Girls are roosting in the middle.
I ordered a kennel fence from k9 kennel store to expand my run for the girls. They also have chicken coops. It will arrive this week. They were willing to custom make mine, as I only needed three sides. Good luck.

I love it. It works.
Here is the company Perma-Guard also that tells you where the distributors are in each...
Just to let you know. I also read somewhere that they do not make them themselves, but order them from another source outside of the United states. Where as other companies actuallly do make them themselves.
Good Luck with whatever you choose to do.
I have the same thing going on. Same type of bird. It is like they want to lie down and can't stand on the one leg. I bought these through a private person. So they weren't vaccinated. So I am wondering if that could be the problem. They are on medicated food. I lost one already to this...
Was wondering. In most cases the chickens don't fly up and out? I would like to do the same, but wondered if I would have to cover it up. Do you all clip your girls wings to make it work? Steph
Just saw this post.
I have the Henspa. Eventually they get it. They tap on the end piece and water come out in a drip. When one gets it, the others do too. I was more concerned that the banties couldn't reach it, but they do. They can access it from inside the coop and out.
You can by...
Bella has died.
Toward evening I noticed that she was straining. I wonder if she was egg bound?
I did all the things to do that I read on here for egg bound, but to no avail. It seems in most cases they don't make it.
I still wonder if it was more than one thing, since she was vomiting and...
Regarding her eating something that was bad, I hadn't thought of that. They haven't been allowed to free range for quite awhile.
I checked on her earlier and she is still laying low. I did watch her drink quite a bit of water. I put a piece of bread and some crackers by her but she wouldn't...
Just to be clear;
I gave them medicated feed when they were babies. Switched to non medicated layer feed pellets. Which I don't like and will switch them to another brand that has crumbles. I will of course mix it, so that they get use to the change. I don't think they like the pellets. I know...
Looked up a wormer for chickens from McMurray and this is what I found;
PoultryGuard Wormer Plus Flax
Holistic Health Care examines the impact that disposition and environment have on your animals overall health. It differs from conventional care because it doesn't just treat symptoms, but...
Milk is not good for them...it will upset their intestines and in addition will encourage the growth of E.coli o.a. However that milk is in and of itself the cause of what you are describing...I doubt that very much.
How have you been giving the oatmeal...by itself or mixed through the feed...
1) What type of bird , age and weight.
Bella is a Silkie Banty is 9 months old. Not sure on weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Yesterday I noticed that she had black by her bottom.
Today, I noticed that she didn't come with the rest of the chickens when feeding. She was out in the...
