Here are some pics of my coop and chickens. I built my coop this past summer (2011). Project took a lot of time and sweat to complete but was fun doing it. Got a lot of great ideas and how-to's from this website. Thanks everybody.
I made my own plans for my coop. It is 8x8 feet wide. Is 6 feet high on the front and 5 1/2 feet in rear. I only have ten hens but there is room for more. Decided to come up with my own plans after looking at ideas on here. Took ideas from different coops and applied what was right for me. Pics...
I have a pic of my roosts on my BYC page. They are removable for cleaning access. The "steps" under the window are for the silkies and they do use them.
Free buff polish rooster to good home. Picture of him on my BYC page. Very last pic. Nice young rooster just starting to crow. He was supposed to be a hen. Would prefer he didn't get eaten.

One of my "hens" has turned out to be a rooster. He is a buff polish. Free. Anybody want him? Would prefer somebody take him that is not planning on eating him. There is a picture of him on my BYC page. Very last pic.
I was at Sonic the other day just eating my cheeseburger and listening to the radio when I looked up and saw a chicken sitting on one of the tables! I kinda chuckled a little bit since I did not expect to see a chicken running loose through the middle of town! I guess it had been there for a...

Yeah, I got a chuckle out of it too. Guess he will be sticking to doing the traffic and not raising chickens. I live in Rutherford county so doesn't apply to me either but was glad to see it pass in Nashville.
Just saw on news channel 5 that metro council has passed an ordinance that allows property owners to keep up to 6 chickens. How many you keep depends on the size of your property. Can only be for eggs. Cannot be bred or slaughtered. Hens only. Then the traffic guy said he didn't know how all...
Thank you very much! It was a mixture of ideas from BYC+my grandparents brooder house+foghorn leghorn. So Citychickx6 take any ideas from here and run with it. Looking forward to seeing yours! Now if my hens would just give me some eggs!!! (gonna put some hatch doors on the nest box for easy...
