A few pictures of my roosters. :)
My Araucana roo, Antonio, with my blue Orp hen Violet.
Serama roo, Cocoa.
New Jersey Giant roo, Sultan. I'm not sure if he's just young or if his tail feathers were plucked a bit but I think he's going to be a very pretty boy. He wouldn't stand still...
Here's one of my babies, named Trinket. She (he?) fell asleep 2 nanoseconds after the picture, so I'm going to say this was a sleepy look, not the bebeh stink-eye. :)
My hatch is done. I ended up with 15 Silkies hatched of 20 eggs, but 5 chicks died soon after hatching. Ten adorable little fluffballs running around--they are really too cute.
I ended up with four chicks from the 8 eggs that I set. 2 light/coronation sussex, 1 lavender orp., and 1 blue orp. Here's a picture of my little ones this morning, all dry and fluffy (and all refusing to sit still or look at the camera!):
This is what I was just wondering about. I want to take them out because they're crashing around and chirping so pitifully. They need to be loved on! lol I don't want to take them out before I should, though.
I woke up to two Orpingtons hatching and two of the Sussex eggs have pipped. It looks like one lavender and one blue orpington so far. I can't wait to see the rest!
This is my Langshan hen, who is such a sweetheart. My daughter named her Furry Foot. lol She has been the friendliest of my chickens since the beginning and is just now 5 months old. She's from a hatchery but since I don't show that doesn't matter to me. I love her. :)
I set 8 eggs on the 13th--4 from a lavender/blue Orpington pen and 4 from a coronation/light Sussex pen. I'm excited--first hatch in my first incubator (Genesis 1588). I've come a long way from the first chicks I got last October. lol

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear about that. The first two pics show the same barred (Marans?) chick, and the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, picture are all the same (assumed) Langshan chick. So the chick in the first two photos might be a male BR? That would mean one of my other chicks is the Marans...

Yes, there are supposed to be 3 BRs in the bunch (also 3 Black Australorp, 3 Black Sex-Link, 7 'packing peanut' roosters that I have no idea about, a Welsummer, and a Sussex) and are in the backgrounds of these pics. The black and white barred chick in the first two pictures is...
The chicks I got from Ideal are almost 3 weeks old now and I'm trying to confirm the two that I think are the Langshan and Marans. I got four chicks as part of the rare breed pullet surprise deal they have on their website and they pencilled in that there was a Langshan and Marans included...
My daughter has named one of our new chicks 'Fudgeball'. I called her 'fuzzball' the first day they were here and my daughter mis-heard it as 'fudgeball' so now that is her name. She's either a Welsummer or a Sussex so the coloring at least sort of fits. My husband has taken to calling the...

One baby out of the lot has feathered legs so I'm guessing that must be the Langshan and the Maran must not have feathered legs. The feather-legged baby is one of the sweetest of the bunch.
