    Lash Egg - Help!

Our 5yr old EE hen attempted to lay a soft shelled egg 5 weeks ago. She had a prolapsed vent. My husband pulled out what he could of the broken egg and pushed her vent back in. She has appeared fine since. Two days ago I found a lash egg in her favorite nest box. I assume it was her...... this...

Sick Birds - What to do!!???!?

All my birds recovered from whatever they had. So happy for that! !! Now that I have had them under my radar, in the crates, based off poop I think they are due for worming. Is it safe after antibiotics? We are chucking eggs so I figured now would be a good time. Thoughts? Brands to use? I have...

I have another hen making the rattling sound. And I think another one just starting to get stuffy in the coop. Tylan for all those who are seperated, my vet doesnt seem willing to make a house call to my area. No suggestions over the phone. The very first hen that started all this seems to be...

Sick Birds - What to do!!???!?

Thank you for your suggestions. I have generally had a closed flock for years. I had learned that we could have more where we live and decided to add a couple few, hatch a couple, etc. But this is the result. I figured it was either Coryza or MG. You suggested only treating the ones that look...

    Bad limp in Silkie Hen

My roo hurt his leg somehow last year and thought maybe he broke it. We just bandaged it for a couple days and let things take it's course. He recovered fine, small limp.... but otherwise ok. Not sure what happened to him- but we did lower the roosts for awhile and made sure he didn't slip on...

    Vent Gleet or Eggbound??

So I thought my hen had vent gleet. Nasty chicken butt. I brought her into the cool part of our basement, gave her a warm bath and cleaned her up. Treating it as vent gleet with ACV water concentrated, etc. This morning I woke to two eggs in the crate with her - one without a shell. She had just...

Terribly sorry for your loss of your hen. I am currently in the same exact position...... my hen is just over a year old and never laid an egg that I am aware of. She comes from a background of "family" that had two internal layers. I had hoped she would be fine... but appears not to be the...

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I am getting one marans egg a day - from the one on meds, so I can't even cook it up for us to eat! She gets it.... didn't realize they had such a strong instinct to brood- but it could come in handy for chicken addicts.

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Marans hens = contagious broody syndrome. Just saying.... 5 out of 6 have gone broody this spring. The sixth hen has been away from the other five recovering from bumblefoot, so she has not been influenced by it..... she may live in the garage forever lol
