    Using OSB in coop floor

Does it matter what sealer you use? I am afraid of it being toxic to chickens.

I don't know if my chicken is sick, dying , or broody

My favorite chicken "Aster" is a Black Astralorp and for about a month now she has been staying in her nesting box. I NEVER see her out of it. I do work, and it's a drive so I am out of the house about 9 hours, but my boyfriend is home more and not a chicken person doesn't look all the time, but...

Newbie question about broody hen and her eggs

I see in some youtube videos...and on tv, a hen that has many chicks following her. Those are all her babies? Do they lay a bunch of fertile eggs and sit on them when they are broody? I heard once they go broody they don't lay eggs until they have stopped being broody, so how do they have so...

Getting the babies used to their coop -- suggestions?

I will be putting my chicks in their coop soon. Most things I have read on this say to "lock" them in the coop for a week, NOT letting them outside so they understand inside the coop is a safe place. then you can open the door. I think I am going to do it this way because I am out in the boonies...

Chicks won't eat treats I give them :(

I will try meal worms. They are over a week and they actually eat the grit, so they should be fine with other foods. Thanks

Chicks won't eat treats I give them :(

I have heard hard boiled egg is a great treat, they would come over to smell it...nothing. Then while they were "smelling" again I would rub it on their beaks....still nothing. Then one pecked at it, shook it's head and never came back for more. Then I put it in a bowl, because maybe they didn't...

sexing 4 week old chick question

This works for chicks a few days old, at 4 weeks would this still work? Most videos on this say you can't use this method after a few days.

When to introduce the chickies to the adults?

So people have said to put them outside in a run next to the other chickens run so they can get used to them first.

Babies 6 weeks old! So much fun...and my newbie random chicken thoughts.

As long as the chicken is cooked they have no idea. if you gave them a dead chicken to eat, that would be another story. :)

Babies 6 weeks old! So much fun...and my newbie random chicken thoughts.

Awesome story. Love the window that faces your house! Great idea! I have got six 3-5 day old chicks right now. They are so cute. I am scared of predators too, my grandpa has seen a fox a couple of times...I am going to test my coop/run, re-test, and test again, just to make sure nothing can get...

Chick poop on their fluffy feathers, should I get it off?

It's not sticky vent, I checked that but some have poop near the vent, one has it on her chest. Should I dip it in warm water and wipe it away like how you clean a vent, or should I leave it?
