Hi Chikka!
It was just last year about this time when I posted my original posts, and boy have things gone well since then! I have built a coop, a huge one, using old shipping crates and miscellaneous wood we bought from an auction, as well as seconds from a tin roof company and fencing I got...
Not to bust your bubble, and I am not much of a bunny expert, but we have a doe that we won as a prize who makes a nest every few months even though we are VERY sure she has not been exposed to a buck since we have gotten her. The common idea behind it is that she has had babies before and is...
Report him, if they die you will never forgive yourself... you know that they need help, and it sounds like he does too. It might be a win win and more of the animals will get help as well.
Report him... don't wait...
Nambroth i so wish you live closer to me, I have a wonderful nice Buckeye Roo that would be perfect for your house. Even though he is kept separate from my girls because my main roo Zeus would not tolerate it, he still does his best to attempt to call them over for treats, and protect them...
There are some GREAT ideas on this page! I would like to add a few that I have found to be very useful, while of course I have been looking to add some of the previously mentioned ideas to my already "done" coop:
When I began my coop was going to be half the size of the one I ended up with...
Type in spraddle leg and curled toes into the search bar, several people have had good luck in fixing their babies. It does take some work, so that is up to you if you have the time to do it, otherwise I would say cull, more humane than letting it starve to death. I fixed one with spraddle leg...
You won't go wrong with the Buckeyes... I am very impressed with the ones we ended up butchering. Good weights for heritage birds I think. Message me or just ask if you would like more information!
I have 3 Buckeye roosters for sale, 21 weeks old. Very friendly, very good looking! Brother took 3rd at the fair and sister took 2nd. Lay line of Buckeyes, very pretty!! Hate to see them go to the freezer, I just have too many for my 2 girls... PM me with questions. I live in East Central Ohio...
I did the same tyhing when I fermented for my meats, I used a big enough bucket to hold the feed for 1 day plus enough to have some left over. at night I wopuld refill with the grains and water and let it sit overnight in the kitchen. By the time the morning came the feed was sweet smelling, had...
I would say that they are both roos... very nice ones! That is hard to find, out of the 4 maturing here right now, the others are still babies, I have 1 meanish one. He is ok with my daughter and I, we do the feeding, but doesn't really care for anyone else. If you can get away with keeping them...
Hi Tilley! Welcome to BYC! If you are looking for good quality buckeye pullets then you need to contact the ABC, American Buckeye Club. They have a website - http://www.americanbuckeyeclub.org/ , and a very active yahoo! group and facebook page. There are several quality breeders listed, many in...
Sorry hun, but that is for sure a rooster! His comb and wattles are huge and I am sure he is trying to crow, mine sounded like a squeaky toy for a few days before he started getting the crowing down. So sorry...

She looks just like mine that I am pretty sure are all pullets. She is probably just being the "top hen" of the flock and making sure everyone else knows it!
Wish I could help you Shawn, but my 35 chicks aren't laying yet :( and I don't have any year olds yet, but I will reply to bump the thread up. Good Luck!
I just processed 20 meat chickens, and did them one at a time very near the hen house, and the pen for the meats. No one was sad, upset, or even cared, until I walked into the hen run with the bucket of goodies! Now whenever I come near the coop or run with this bucket they ALL come running! I...
