now i wonder if it is worth it to prolong the diseases course to 7 months. let her die and be at peace quick instead of dragging out the inevitable and prolonging the suffering. and i read somewhere that st johns wort is toxic to chickens if eaten in plant form.
be careful cleaning the coop, if it is a brown recluse, it will have no problems bitting you like it bit her. they have some pet friendly spider spray at lowes. just a thought
update.... she has died and now i have more infected.... only the speckled sussex are affected and not all of them. i had 6 now i have 5 and 4 of the 5 are in isolation and 1 of the 4 in isolation looks fine but I'm not taking any chances. i am leaning towards mareks disease. 1 in isolation...
All birds were born march 7th this year so they will be 3 months tomorrow. They are now in a separate coop from the rest of the coop. They are on wood shavings they have grass avail to them. They were on chic starter for 8 or 9 weeks they are now on chic finisher crumbles. For the first 8 weeks...
I had 6 speckled Sussex . 1 started looking tired with half closed eyes from about 4 weeks till I lost her last week. Now 2 more are tired looking and 1 can't stand up anymore, they have been separated from the rest of the flock for 2 weeks now, and none of my other birds are showing symptoms...
So upon closer examination today, no goop in the nose, no goop in the eyes, eyes are not droopy just tired looking and constantly wants to sleep. When I picked her up she opened her eyes all the way up. She is eating and drinking, not missing feathers. 1 thing I did notice is she is smaller that...
they are not goopy or droopy, but look as if it just woke up, as compared to the others that are completely round..... she kinda looks "stoned" no other ailments. she is eating and drinking. any thoughts?
i use this stuff to keep my chickens out of my front yard and out of the neighbors yard next door, and out of my garden. rabbits ate right thru the dam thing and the hole is big enough for the chickens to get thru it now so i had to patch it... works great for he chickens, but nothing else....lol
lol sorry i didn't mean you, i meant in general..... i guess you can incubate any fertile egg assuming you have an incubator big enough to hold the eggs...lol
good luck.
they don't.... but i got a bag of diatom dust and they all got a dusting along with cleaning every corner of the coop and dusting the entire inside of the coop and adding new shavings. guess we'll see how this goes,
where to start.... i have 8 ri reds and i noticed today that their vent areas are bare and some of them are loosing their feathers around their tail feathers and up their backs. i have scoured them looking for mites or lice and ill be dammed if i can see any movement around the feather bases...
