Help - trouble with Brinsea Mini

You all were right! The eggs that got cold with the Brinsea Mini malfunction... 5 hatched right on time, yesterday. The last two have pipped in a bad spot - middle of the egg. They are getting air and I see movement but no change since last night. After reading all the info about intervening, I...

If you factor in that half are roos, that makes those hens pretty pricey! I'm debating about spending more to send it back and fix it. After this disappointment, it (or any incubator) will always be suspect. I have a few hens that get broody and have used them to hatch, too, just didn't have one...

Review by '' on item 'Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator'

This little incubator is great when it's working. I had 3 successful hatches in two years. However, 4 days before the chicks were due, the heating unit and sensor shot craps. The "alarm" is a tiny chirping noise that can't be heard from another room so we weren't aware until it was too late. The...

Help - trouble with Brinsea Mini

Yeah, me too. Hate going back to styrofoam. Thought I was "all that and more!" moving up to Brinsea, but look where THAT got me! Maybe I got a lemon. I candled this morning, but all I could see was a well-developed, age appropriate air cell. How can I tell? Shells are blue and hard to see through.

Help - trouble with Brinsea Mini

Ah, well... I feel a little better. Fingers crossed. They were supposed to pip on Sunday/Monday. I assume if there's no action by, say... Thursday?... I should give up? Kathleen

Help - trouble with Brinsea Mini

I woke up this morning to a high alarm of 106 on my Brinsea mini. I quickly removed the lid and felt the eggs - they didn't feel hot so I reset the incubator but the temp sensor kept fluctuating from 89-100+. I called Brinsea and they thought the sensor was bad but we assumed that it was still...

2015 BYC Calendar - Your Pictures Needed!

This little chick was 1/2 Barred Rock and 1/2 Ameracauna. He grew up to be the meanest rooster I've ever encountered and the only one I didn't regret butchering. Sure was cute as a chick though.

I caught a raccoon & another & another ***GRAPHIC PICS*** pic heavy

A year ago we wrapped our coop and pen in electric wire, top to bottom. Every night we close the door to the coop, hook the loop, flip the switch and that's that. We have two strands at the bottom, around each window and up the sides. Haven't seen a raccoon in over a year. We tried relocating...

crop bound and crop bound capsules

Turns out that the internal super glue sutures didn't hold. I've named this hen "Lucky" because she has an amazing will to survive! When she was still alive after all that crap coming out of her, I noticed that the water she drank was coming out of her chest. Maybe the trauma of the previous day...

crop bound and crop bound capsules

Guess I'm replying to my self here. Stranger things have happened. Well, much to my dismay, my hen's crop is full again. The mash, egg yolk and yogurt of the last 2 days has not progressed past her crop. So, I gave her two crop bound capsules and some water and waited. She was still miserable...

crop bound and crop bound capsules

I have a black Australorp hen that was acting off - not ranging or moving with the others and then went off her feed. I brought her in and found that she was crop bound. I read the forums here, ordered the crop bound capsules, waited two days while massaging the mass and giving olive oil. It...
