    NY chicken lover!!!!

I just enjoy sharing the eggs. I give some to our youth pastor every week, 3 pregnant ladies who need healthy eggs, 1 or 2 who have had health issues. What could be more satisfying? We enjoy a life that most of the world can only dream of. Time to be content and grateful for what we have.

I need duck help but not sure how to get it. Think my duck has something caught in his throat. I think the wood shavings may be broken down too much & mixing with his food. Will take them out & put in hay. But how do I help him now?

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Well, I'm going to try to not worry, but when you have little 5 yr olds all waiting for the eggs to hatch, you don't want to disappoint them. I did investigate last year why some of the fully formed chicks did not hatch.. Can't say there was a lot of "water" inside, the membrane seemed "tough-...

I'm having a terrible time maintaining a constant humidity (acc. to my thermometer/hygrometer)!! Temp is great but I can have the humidity at 55 at 4 PM when I leave school. When I get back in at 8 AM, the humidity has gone down to the teens. The school turns down the heat overnight. Is that the...

Thanks for all the advice about my "peeping Tom" rooster. I didn't really want to clip him as I like him to some defense mechanism. I like the advice about the deer netting over the top of the fenced in area. Sounds do-able. So pharmchickrnmom wins the prize!!! What do you all use in your fenced...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Have a question. I have a rooster that figures out how to fly over the 10' high fence every night. He doesn't get along well with the other rooster in the coop so I don't blame him for wanting to leave. Too much of a pain to cover the top just to keep him in. Problem is he has taken to sleeping...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Well something visited us again last night. Didn't get out in time. One hen missing it's head. Does that mean it is definitely a fox? Never seem to see it come or go. I have a few birds who manage to not stay in at night. The fence is very high but I was worried anyway. My husband (whose family...
