NY chicken lover!!!!

the broody madness is about to start here. I stopped counting broody's at 25 last year. My best broody Sumatra, a 6 year old Blue who when not broody still lays 5 to 6 eggs a week is broody. I gave her a dozen Sumatra eggs and she is in her glory. A few pics of her from last year. Her favorite nest. Same nest as this year. And a pic of her biggest brood of her 4 broods from last year when she raised 15 Sumatra's.
These are beautiful pictures! I don't know anything about Sumatras but I would love a few like her! Off to Google now :)

I live in Ballston Spa but need some fertile eggs for classroom hatching in Troy. Would I be able to stop by tomorrow to pickup whatever you have?

thanks! Disregard almost any information from hatcheries on Sumatra's. 90% of it is WRONG! There is a thread on BYC called The Sumatra thread. That is where your good information is. By real life owners of Sumatra's. Hatcheries know NOTHING about them

Good job Fiona! Hope it solves all the problems, at least for now.
We seen sooo many deer in the fields through Madison County on the way home from your place. And I'll be in Vernon on April 27 for a late afternoon wedding. Hubby said no more.

Sorry about your kitty. Was it the young one causing trouble?
The kids could always play, but then you might get another melt down. Sabrina my 10 year old kitty "queen of the dogs" was the one we lost. She was a good mouser.
Sheesh! Your plate has been so very full. Here's to wishing you a "stay in bed reading a good book and drinking tea day"...or maybe just a few hours!!

Tell me, why would a kid so young, Fiona, need so many root canals?
I am not sure exactly why. Could be a combination of things. Travis's side of the family has problems with their teeth. She had a high fever around the time her teeth were developing. She used to not go to bed without a milk bottle. She was on flouride vitamins the first year of her life and has brushed her teeth since she sprouted teeth. I noticed a white line on her teeth quite a while ago and i had asked my dentist about it. He didn't seem too concerned because they were baby teeth. It was my mistake not to push for more answers. I didn't realize there were pediatric dentists. Most dentists will not treat young kids as I found out from all the phone calls I've made. The one pediatric dentist I saw in our area was more concerned on how much the insurance would pay and having us make sure we would pay 2 weeks prior to treatment what the insurance wouldn't ($1755). That didn't include the over $1000 for anesthesia the hospital wanted that wouldn't be covered. The doctor in Rochester was great. He put the care of the child first and was concerned with her discomfort.

Sorry for the tangent. This whole situation has had me all worked up.

Hey there....I'm new to this thread but from what I can see we've got a very well rounded group of Chicken People!!!!!!

I was hoping to find someone in the Saratoga County area who may have a Lil Roo they'd be willing to part with. I Had to send my Handsome little Noodle Roo to Silkie Camp for Kung Foo Fighting with me on more than one occasion. I'm hoping to find avery young Roo to incorporate into my( small for the moment) flock. If anyone has or knows of anyone willing to part with a sweet Lil Roo please do contact me with any info!?!
Thanks in advance for any assistance~
