I will definitely have extra Birchen marans roos. Is anyone interested? Free of course. I've picked out the one I intend to keep.

Just so you know the two oldest appear to not show any red in the hackles. Can't say for the newest chicks though. I can tell the pullets from the roos as they mature early.

I'm not sure I want to hatch with the incu anymore this year. I have broody hens on eggs though I can't say how they will do.

I would be Soooo Interested in a young Roo, but I think perhaps a drive to Syracuse may be a bit expensive for a free chick!?!?

I am not sure exactly why. Could be a combination of things. Travis's side of the family has problems with their teeth. She had a high fever around the time her teeth were developing. She used to not go to bed without a milk bottle. She was on flouride vitamins the first year of her life and has brushed her teeth since she sprouted teeth. I noticed a white line on her teeth quite a while ago and i had asked my dentist about it. He didn't seem too concerned because they were baby teeth. It was my mistake not to push for more answers. I didn't realize there were pediatric dentists. Most dentists will not treat young kids as I found out from all the phone calls I've made. The one pediatric dentist I saw in our area was more concerned on how much the insurance would pay and having us make sure we would pay 2 weeks prior to treatment what the insurance wouldn't ($1755). That didn't include the over $1000 for anesthesia the hospital wanted that wouldn't be covered. The doctor in Rochester was great. He put the care of the child first and was concerned with her discomfort.

Sorry for the tangent. This whole situation has had me all worked up.
No need to apologize for the tangent! You have every reason to be worked up!! I hope she is through with the dental work soon.

Been out in the yard that last few days cleaning up coops, rearranging, getting ready for spring, etc. I find it quite funny that Duncan, my silkie roo is becoming quite the pimp since I moved the two orpington hens into the silkie coop. He no longer stays behind with Pearl and the chicks while thy're out free ranging. Instead he ventures off with the big girls to parts of the yard he's never been to before. - Over near the stream, the front yard, under the deck to deck to take a dust bath...And I'm hoping this is just normal in determining a new pecking order, the bigger girls will pick on Pearl every once in a while and when they do he goes after them like, Hey! Thats still my girl! LOL It's so funny to watch them out there. So far everyone is doing fine and there have been no injuries.
