ok so its been a few weeks. I got in an order of 6 pullets from the local farm supply. We have 2 sexlinks, 2 arcaunas and 2 blue orpingtons. I put them all in with Hip Hop and boy did they take to one another! Hip Hop had been lonely, now its the big'un in the group and loving the company...no...
Thanks for the comments on the chick. My daughter has decided to call it "Hip Hop" it is the craziest chick I've ever had! We had to stick an old window screen over the brooder box as it jumps and jumps...yesterday we found it out on the window sill!
I'll try to get a new photo posted...
Got home and well.... the chirper wasn't chirping any more.... it died in the egg.
I'm not certain why as things seem to have stayed the same temp and humidity wise.
The sole hatcher is doing well. I put it in the small brooder with the lamp next to the bigger chicks that hatched out over...
We have one and that is it. All the rest are dead ... the 1 that was peeping died this afternoon....no idea why. I feel bad like I should have helped it this morning when I heard it still peeping softly in the egg.... but I didn't. The other 3 eggs just didn't make it at all.
Oh well... we...
Well the pipped egg hatched over night...very cute polish chick sitting in the bator resting. The neighbor egg..no pip but still chirping! Nothing from any of the other eggs.

Been quiet alllll day. Just checked eggs and one has a teeny tiny pip and the resident is chirping. The next door neighbor is chirping as well but no visible pip! Both are polish frizzled. I can't wait!!!!!
The 4 other eggs are very quiet.

STILL quiet in the bator!!! I thought at least one would be pipping by now! Today is day 21. Just checked egg that had the most movement this morning...no pip through air cell yet.

Still quiet in the bator!! the suspense is killing me!
I did candle the eggs and saw definate movement in 2. 1 was quiet but looks cramped in there!
I didn't bother the silkie eggs.
Maybe tomorrow...........
today is hatch day but nothing so far.
I recandled them on Friday and two of the silkie eggs were infertile. The rest are chick filled with large (and one has a HUGE oddly shaped) air cells.
Hopefully we'll have chicks by tomorrow.

Eggs are seemingly well.
That monday on the 7th day.... veins!
They are due to hatch this weekend. Two seem to have nothing in them...one was completely clear with no dark anything or veins so out it went (one of the polish eggs )
One silkie egg is hard to tell so I am leaving it alone.
One...
Thanks Flufnstuff,
I've had really good success with local eggs, some from a friends farm and others from local farms in the area, in the past years.
This year we got 4 out of 11 silkies from eggs from my friend's farm ... 7 of the eggs were not fertile...nothing was developing.
I will candle...
Day 5 in the incubator. Now with last batch of silkies I saw veins at this time and clearly saw aircells.... not so with this lot right now.
I see only clearness right now.... I'm soooo hoping that these are viable!
