Actually she isn't laying and hasn't since we moved her after she got hurt a few weeks ago. I just thought it was because she was in a new place.

    HELP!!! SICH HEN

Yes, that is what I was afraid of. She was one of my sons 4H chickens he got 4 years ago. She got hurt a few months back and seemed to be walking funny. Like her back was hurt. She walked more upright than usual. We isolated her and she got better. She still walks a bit funny, but seemed fine...

    HELP!!! SICH HEN

We found my sons 4 year old black sexlink hen setting in her coop this evening very lethargic and seems to be unable to walk. She is drunk acting (no other way to describe it) and seems to want to just set. Her abdomen seems very swollen and squishy. Any help would be appreciated as to what...

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

Thank you, he is a big sweetheart. He loves to be held, my boys can just go in and pick him up like this. If you rub his neck he will fall asleep and his neck will get so limp he looks dead:)

My Silkie Rooster DOES NOT like my son :-)

Glad everyone likes the pics. He can be a bit of a handful. Glad he isn't a big rooster. If he was he would do some damage. Thank goodness he is so small. A good pair of rubber boots will protect you:) He has started doing the same thing to me now. Come to find out my son wears my boots to feed...

My Silkie Rooster DOES NOT like my son :-)

Thought I would share these pics of my Silkie Rooster. We couldn't figure out why he didn't like my son. Upon further watching we noticed my son thought it was "funny" to stand outside the pen and stomp at the rooster. Well guess who has to feed and water him now??? That's right, my son. Hope...

Silkie Hen Staying In Nesting Box ALL DAY?????

Thanks everybody. I am convinced now that I have a broody hen:) I got an egg from our other chicken house,(I have a Silkie pen with a few Silkies and then another bigger pen with my sons 25 4-H hens in it.) just to see what she would do with an egg. I put the egg in her nest and she turned it...

Silkie Hen Staying In Nesting Box ALL DAY?????

Thank you both for your advice. I have some info to add to my question. She normally lays an egg every other day and sometimes every day. Since she has been "setting" she hasn't layed an egg AT ALL. Is this normal???? I talked with one of the Vets at our clinic that we take our dogs too hoping...

Silkie Hen Staying In Nesting Box ALL DAY?????

I hope this is the appropriate place to ask this question. I have a Silkie hen that is a little over a year old. She has set in her nesting box ALL DAY. She is in a pen with a few more hens, and a rooster. We just put the other hens in a few weeks ago, but she has been with the rooster for a...
