Thank you for the good wishes. Actually, even though shy, he is more friendly than the other one and Will actually take an occasional treat from my hand and if I corner him he will let me pick him up.
That's why I feel so guilty about rehoming one of my roos. They are always together, even at night. I just hope the roo, Pepper, that I'm keeping will adjust ok. I know he's going to be pretty lonely for awhile until he grows a bit more (he's just turning 5 months) and is accepted my flock...
More snow. Thankfully so far it has warmed enough in the pm for it to melt. More flurries off and on due thru the weekend. Maybe not by Monday if the weather man's right, supposed to get a good snow then.
Well, the verdict is in. Two roos :th. Good news is I found a home for the...
Gorgeous birds!!! ThAnk you for showing such lovely Aussies and I love your run. I am so jealous!!! We are in the 20s right now and getting snow flurries. :hit
TERRI - Looks like my friend Al' s(short for Alicent) bird's are one of each, judging by size etc and comparing them to my known roo. Hard to tell for certain yet because her birds are developing a little slower. I had mine on everything the best I could get my hands on to help them (even tho...
TERRI `- just an FYI - The large rooster, the one that had never been sick, other than a mild to moderate case of round worm like the two my friend also got, (check older posts plz Jim-I apologize if I failed to make this clear) and the one I was going to return to you, has been re-homed to a...
I live in the Northwoods and have a small greenhouse I use for starting/growing plants. In the fall I pop out several blocks from the floor, exposing the dirt and clean off shelves, placing large leafs of hay on them instead. The greenhouse was moved this summer so that it now acts as part of...
I appreciate your input Lisa, however, I wasn't "asking" Terri to take back the birds, I was taking her up on her very generous offer made to me when I bought them that if they turned out to be roos she would take them back. Believe me, I totally understand about the sick birds. Honesty is not...
OK, soooo,, looks like I have a transportation problem. No way to get them down to Madison?? to Terri and she won't be coming north at all until at least spring. Anyone want a free, very good looking (but very off SOP), healthy and tame pure bred Australorp roo???
Hi Terri!!!
here are some pics of some of mr. Urch's birds. These belong to rattlesnakeridgewv over on the Aussie thread and are 24 weeks old in these pics taken this past summer. Thought you might like to see them
Morning everyone :frow
YEP, I have a large landing net too but have never had to use it. Mine are such pigs that all I have to do is open the mailbox where I store their dried mealworms and they totally forget everything else.
LISA - thank you for all the great advice. I'm trying hard not to...
I actually thought of that but you would not believe how bonded these two are! If I thought it would work, I would actually keep the little one I worked so hard on which oddly seems to be closer to the SOP than his brother (per a breeder on the Australorp thread) but they are totally...
oops. meant to say the "BEST" representation of the breed I can manage. Thanks guys. You just verified what I already knew but didn't want to admit. Those tail feathers just popped out within the past week. I put an awful lot of time, work, money and heart into saving those two. I'm just...
