Hi again,
So now I'm just looking for two good brown egg layers- they don't have to be already laying, but should be 4 months old at least. Red sex-links, barred or plymouth rocks, RIR, etc... any good dual-purpose laying hens will do!
Will pick up within a one-hour drive of Philly, in PA or...
Meriruka- your PM inbox is full...
So, I think I should have you take Bella ( the sicilian buttercup) from me this weekend - I'll be sad to see her go, but I'll feel so much better knowing she'll have a milder winter to contend with! I've heard about their combs getting frostbite, etc. I would...
fyi all, I don't need a direct trade- I'm happy to give the Sicilian ("Bella Pollastrella" is her name) to a good home, and get two good layers from elsewhere...
but Meriruka- how old are your Partridge Rocks, and where are you located? I'm mainly looking for good layers who aren't too much...
I have a beautiful Sicilian Buttercup who looks like she should start laying any day, but hasn't yet... I'm concerned that my coop won't be warm enough for her, and that she won't ever lay many eggs- I only have room for 4 hens, so I'd like all of them to be laying one a day.
So, I am offering...
So, I adopted three pullets as a total newbie...
Two are stuck together at the wing- same breed, probably sex-link ISA brown or something. They are supposedly 4 or 5 months old.
The third is a Sicilian Buttercup, and may be much younger, as young as 2 or 3 months. They were all raised/living...
Hi all,
So I got three nice pullets from a woman with a horse barn who couldn't keep them - she raised them from chicks but didn't know what breeds or exactly how old- any ideas?
I'm almost definite the small one is a Sicilian Buttercup ( she certainly has the temperament!)
the other two -maybe...
I just found this thread by searching for "buttercup"...
I just built a coop, and i got 3 pullets from a horse-woman a few days ago who got them from a friend as chicks for her barn, and had no idea what breeds they were...
the other two are probably a cross of red/white RIR, and I finally...
I just built my coop last week, and spent a total of abouut $30, mainly on hardware. Scrounging, trash-picking, craigslist!
Also- check home depot or lowe's- they often have a bin of very cheap lumber and plywood pieces that they cut off of damaged ones- I got 4 half sheets plywood, and 8 4 ft...
Thanks for all the advice everyone! I picked up three lovely pullets last night from a wonderful woman in chester county, near parkesburg. yay! I love them already! I can't wait to get home and hang out with my girls.
I have no dea what breeds they are ( two look to be RIR or ISA Browns, but the...
Thanks for the info!
Moyers is currently taking orders for NOVEMEBER- may as well raise from chicks at that rate. Which I am not ready to do yet.
I have a few leads from Craigslist actually- I may be picking up hens tonight! cross your fingers for me...
I posted regarding this offer earlier... if anyone is nearby and interested, I am looking for someone to share this batch with me! I can only take 3 hens, so I'm looking for someone else to take 2 hens and the rooster. anyone?
Zoe.
I found a craigslist listing for 5 barred rock hens and a rooster, about 1 1/2 or 2 years old.
I really want these birds, but can only take 3 hens, and I'm looking for someone to take the other two hens and the rooster. The seller wants to sell them all together, cheap- I'd pay for them all...

I can only take 3 hens myself, but I really want them!
I'm looking for someone to take the other 2 hens and the rooster, free! I need to know I can give them to someone before I...

Hi all,
I made great progress on my coop last night ( no pics yet, sorry!) it's a tiny urban one, 3ft x 4 ft, for 3 chickens... a one-woman job using as much found and free materials as I can find...
I had some leftover duct insulation that I am using the line the inside of the roof. the side...
Hi all,
I'm planning on having 3 pullets/grown hens in my backyard within two weeks... but have no idea where to get feed in the philly/southeastern PA area. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Zoe.
