I knew it! I am trading these two off Saturday for a pair of blue india pied. Yes I do have a gorgeous black shoulder boy too! He has a beautiful train so there was no questions about what he was! Thanks everyone! I am loving the peafowl!
One of these I purchased and was told it was a 1 yr old peacock. The other is supposed to be a 3 yr old peahen. I think both are peacocks. I am brand new to peafowl and just need to know if I have a pair or not.
Oh and I have the wormer already I have chickens and they get wormed twice a year. Waiting for it to warm up for more than 1 day. Their water freezes so I want to wait until I can have the water unfroze to them all day and night and not waste the wormer.
I am thinking the flying into the wall is it. This house I have them in is an A-frame and it is 12 feet high. I have 2x12 as roosts at different hights in the enclosed space. I just got peafowl that plan is to add an additional 10x20' feet of run for them. I am going to remove the roost that I...
No I didn't pluck him. I never thought of looking like that. The first one is disposed of but I still have the 2nd one. I am going to take a look before I dispose him. The 2nd one didn't even live a week. Do you think maybe worms? I have never wormed my guineas.
Help! I am brand new to peacocks. I purchased a 3 yr old pair in December. I have them in a large 10x10x12' coop with my guineas. The male's train had started to fill out and was gorgeous. There is an enclosed area out of the weather and it has perches at different levels. He survived our...
I too have had several hatches this spring with this issue. I had 4 chicks out of 32 today that I had to help because of this. I keep my humidity at 55-60% during hatch. My question is how do you get the sticky stuff off of them after it has dried. I have just put some of them under warm...
This chick is 1 1/2 weeks old. I am not sure what is wrong with his leg and if there is anything I can do to help. He eats and drinks and is growing fine. He hobbles around. He actually puts pressure on the elbo when he walks so it has started to calus. It looks like it is shaped like an L...
I am shaking my head and rolling my eyes at myself as I ask this very very silly question. I have nesting boxes for my hens that are elevated, attached to the wall about 1 1/2 feet off the floor. My incubators are full. So, I was thinking I am going to let them set on some of the eggs and see...
I come to Bedford all the time to camp and ride horses! My husband is actually from there. I lived there in jr high and my freshman year of high school. Thanks for the info karimw! I would have to be the odd duck needing roosters. Most people are trying to get read of them!
Hi everyone! I live NW of Creston, IA in the sw part of the state. I have standard barred cochins, partridge cochins, partridge rocks, australorps, silver penciled rocks, french blue marans, blue laced red wyondottes, silkies and frizzles. I also have lionhead rabbits, guineas, call ducks, 3...
Hello everyone! Thought I would give an update. She made it! I gave her antibiotics and dusted her (because I found lice) and wormed her and kept her under a heat lamp for over a month. I finally felt she had suffered enough and told my husband to put her down. When I came home it was like...
Thanks for all the help. I am up in the air what to do with these 3 birds. The hen got really sick on me this winter. She still isn't right. She has no balance. I have become attached. I will probably get read of all of them. It's just too bad that this genetic thing happens. They are...
So is it possible to still breed and possibly not have the single comb? If I bred them would there be a possibility of some of the chicks not having the single comb but the rose comb like they are supposed to have?
Ok I have the same kind of deal going on. She lays an egg every day for 7 days. I see her setting on them for about 2 days and then she just quits. I have gathered the last two sets of seven eggs and there was nothing in them after 15 days. So she is now with her 3rd male. Like every other...
I agree. I think they are Wyondotte mixed maybe. I am just going to sell the babies as golden laced mixed. The hen looks just like the roosters only a bit smaller. They are all 3 beautiful. The hen got really sick on me this winter and I didn't think she was going to make it. She is...
