I have a little Cochin Bantam rooster & the hens grouped together in a corner on top of a straw bale.
Guess who was underneath those hens !!! He was toasty warm ! I am gonna have to look at all these
comments, as I don't think my girls are well fed, enough.
I have 11 hens, 3 Bantam & 2 B Roosters. I have a hanging feeder that I fill about 1/4th. Then add as necessary.
Also have their water heated. If the weather is pretty good, I let them out in the afternoon. If anyone would like
directions on how to make a water heater, I will post. Am glad to...
I think my chickens are doing good here in Missouri. They are in a plywood hutch. It is 8 x 12'. Their is a thick
layer of straw on the floor. My hens are RIR & Wyandotte's. Also have 5 Bantams. Did have 6 roosters. They
about killed the 2 Bantam roos. 6 of my hens are laying 4 or so eggs a day...
This info was a very big help with my birds. I am leaning towards mycoplasma Gallisepticum
/lower or Aspergilliosis. The info said an antibiotic would help, but they would be carriers.
One of these 2 issues it said could be caused from mold, ect. I am still wondering if the fine
ground feed...
I have 2 of them separated now & am feeding them scratch grain + crumbles. They look fine.
On the one I put up today, he did not have anything in his crop. Do you think it would be OK
to get some antibiotic to put in the water ?
I have a young rooster that was making a noise like a hiccup or like if a person would cough. Then
he opens his mouth. The chickens have been on a very fine ground egg layer. I separated him last
night & put a lamp on him & gave him just scratch grain. He has no drainage, pus, looks fine. I...
Your pen on the Chick pen on the bottom gave me an idea ! I am getting a 8 x 12 yard barn & am gonna fix it up for my Bantams.
I had thought I would need to use 2 x 4 lumber, but just may not have to. Am so glad I saw your pictures. Thank for the idea !
I didn't get these pictures posted very well. They are shown at 3, 4 & 5 weeks old. The unmarked
pictures were taken today. I thought I had 5 roos & 1 hen in the Barred Rocks, but am not to sure
now. I have 4 BR that are bright colored & 2 that are darker marked. The 4th picture from the top...
She is healthy & is a Partridge Rock Bantam. I bought her & the rooster at an Exotic Sale. They are clean & no redness or sickness.
It's just this strange little noise. Does anyone know what this might be ?
