    2 month old chicken

I incubated 8 Ayam Katawa eggs. 2 were bad. 3 hatched no problem but for some reason even though I used wet paper towels and the water in the troughs were full, 2 chicks needed help getting out. The 1st one died but the 2nd one lived. She is now 2 months old. when she was born she had...

    pull it shut door

Went out to a broken door today. This makes the 2nd time it's broken. Every 2 years seems to be the norm. If you have this automatic door, have you had any problems?

I have 1 hen that always lays eggs with blood spot

I've searched the forum and didn't find this exact problem, if it is indeed a problem. I have a Black Copper Marans hen that has alway had a dark spot in her eggs. She about 3 - 4 years old. It's a nice large egg too. Just want to make sure it's ok and that she won't get super ill or anything.

Sick hen, not quite a year old

I'm sorry I haven't posted an update but thank you for your responses. I gave her Co-rid plus some electrolytes on day one. I fed her a small amount, maybe a little more than 1/4 teaspoon of pepto bismol twice during the day. the second day we took a syringe for diabetics, added .5 antibiotics...

Sick hen, not quite a year old

The Black Copper Marans I hatched out are doing well, one is laying, but I now have a sick one. She started acting a little droopy Friday and today I saw her stumble just a bit. For the most part she walks fine but I did see her wobble. She stays hunched up with her head ooched back on her...

20 week old Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons

I have Blue Wyandottes. All the same age. One matured quickly and is a rooster, the other one that I know is a rooster acts like a hen. The rooster even tried to mate him. I know it's a him, just has to be. It's not crowing yet.

Is this one way to tell if it's a rooster?

I hatched out 2 Lavender Orpington eggs. I'm pretty sure one is a hen in the making, they are about 4 months old? Anyway, I have them in with my Black Copper Marans coop, and they generally get along except for one of the LO's. They chase it away. I think they can't tell them apart either...

    Exploded eggs and NAYSTEE smell

I just leave them alone don't I? I removed the shell of the rotted egg. gag The mama hen doesn't seem to mind. Still, it's pretty gross and I don't like her sitting on the naystee.

    wigglers

I have 2 Blue Marans that hatched and 5 Black Copper Marans plus 2 Buff Orpington/Brown Leghorn crosses that hatched. One baby was zipping when I went to bed but the incubator (little giant) cooked the poor little thing. It lived for about 15 minutes after I pulled the egg off but at 107...

    Incubators Anonymous

I haven't gotten a pip yet, in fact I thought they may have passed away My husband tries to remind me I thought the same thing the last time we had eggs in the incubator. Well today I saw a very active egg I haven't seen move in a while. No pips, but they still have time. Hard being a chicken mom
