I know mine went through their first molt which started about four weeks ago. I still haven't seen any eggs since the molt started.......How long before they start laying again and is there anything I can do to prompt them back into laying...?
I read some threads on here about crop issues, but can't seem to find an answer right away. I went out this morning and found one of my girls who is almost 12 weeks laying limp next to the feeder. She now has a large lump in her lower chest area. She seems to be eating and drinking okay, but...
I've been getting a small white egg, a light to medium brown egg about once a day or every other day, but today I went out and found a medium brown egg with freckles on it. Could it be possible that the egg came from the same one laying the brown egg or is the freckled egg from a totally...
Has anyone tried modifying the top of the fountain so it can be filled without taking it off the heated base? I really like the waterer, but if it could be filled from the top it would be excellent. I thought about just cutting the top and putting some sort of makeshift hinge on it or would that...
How are you all feeding this to your hens? I bought a small bag of each from TSC yesterday and have mixed some of it in with their laying crumble along with a bit of DE.

I thought I read some where that the cedar bedding chips were toxic to chickens. Does anyone have any insight on the topic? Should we be using pine chips/shavings instead of cedar chips/shavings? All help is appreciated!
We were doing some coop work and had the hens in a kennel for a day and I think one of them lost an eye. I would assume things like this happen as they establish the pecking order etc, but is it something I should be concerned about and render treatment to the hen? Thanks for any advice or...
