Thanks.
After reading the comments and that info page I have decided not to buy new chickens. I am a first time chicken owner and trying to do that would be out of my league especially with school and work.
I need advice/ info on how to put together two different sets of chickens.
I have 5, 7 week old chickens and I want to buy 3, 12 week old chickens.
Is this impossible?
Can it be done?
How do I do it?
I really need help on this one I have to know by the end of today.
Thanks Thanks Thanks...

This is the worst day of chicken raising!
Yesterday I went out to my two story coop and saw my little dog in the window up top. I saw him and my heart sank because I knew that to get up there he had to pass by the chickens. I tried to prepare myself. I got to the coop and saw two chickens...
That sounds just like what I've heard. I am 100% that it is a fox because one night when i heard that sound i woke up and saw my house cat fighting a fox in my backyard. Me and my neighbors both agree that it is definately a fox.
wow thanks! That definatel answered some questions but brought up some others. Someone mentioned a deep liter method. What is that? Also, should I cover up the nesting boxes until they are ready to lay? Will they know to lay in there when the time comes?
Thanks for all the great advice.
Amy
I live in Michigan, so it does get pretty cold during the winter. I have 8 large pine trees in the front of my house. If I took the dead needles from the ground would that work? Also, for a roost, how high should it be and why cant they sleep in the nest boxes?
Hey, I have six chicks that I just put into the new chicken coop. Well auctually it is an old playhouse that I used to play in but I converted it into a coop. Currently, for the flooring I have three tarps down to hopefully make clean up better. I hope to put perminent linoleum down. My...
Wow! Those are some original names. Thanks.
Well all the chicks are different so I will list them.

3. Easter Egger
4. Plymouth Barred Rock
5. Austrolorp
6. Rhode Island Red
I really like some of those names and I was thinking more goofy not normal names.
I have six chicks and I need names. If you have any ideas it would really help me cause i am horrible at picking out names. I had two hermit crabs and named them Hermit and Crab so obviously I need some help.
When my chickens start to lay eggs what kinda things do I need to have?
Should I clean them? And if so, with what?
I heard something about putting fake eggs in the nesting boxes, what is that about? Also, what should I put in the nest box bedding? Would pine needels work?
I know lots of...
Hi, My name is Amy and this is the first time owning chickens let alone even being around them. I have six beautiful hens that are almost three weeks old now. Considering my lack of experience and knowledge I think its going smoothly but I still have many questions.
