Any ideas on Breed? 2 week old chicks from a "Lucky Dip"

A quick update. We unfortunately lost most of this hatching during a very sudden cold snap last October. Never did get to find out what the black with white wing tips were, one beautiful brahma hen survived dark and she is now living happily with my friend who has a few brahmas. 3 black ones...

    Silver Duckwing Welsummers

Hi Guys, Thought you might like to see my latest additions. We bought a nice looking trio yesterday morning at a Poultry sale held near to us here in Co. Roscommon. I saw these 3 as we arrived, the Silver Duckwings are hard enough to find here in Ireland. They are last years hatching, just...

Hi Fiona, Yep, you probably are the nearest to me At the moment we've got 6 Plymouth Barred Rocks, a breeding set of Buff Orpingtons and a few random hens and cockerels that are for sale. Just put 16 eggs, a mix of Buff Orp, Barred Rock and Light Sussex in the incubator today so fingers...

Any ideas on Breed? 2 week old chicks from a "Lucky Dip"

Thanks ramirezframing! The ones I thought might be JGs do have yellow soles of the feet, hence my guess. Any ideas on the brown guys? I have absolutely no idea and after looking at pics of Partridge Rock chicks I don't think they are...

Any ideas on Breed? 2 week old chicks from a "Lucky Dip"

Hiya Guys! Any thoughts on what breeds these little cuties are? They came in a random batch of eggs from a breeder with several different breeds. She freely admitted she had no idea which eggs were which as her husband sorts all the hatching eggs and he was away for a few days. She thought there...

2 Chicks Died Suddenly, no symptoms.

Just a follow up. Both chicks survived the night, saw the vet yesterday evening. Orpington was shaking her head a lot, vet thought maybe sinovitis and prescribed Tylosin. Advised I dose all chicks and keep the 2 worst ones seperated. Dosed all when got home. All chicks are thin but are still...

2 Chicks Died Suddenly, no symptoms.

I think the temperature should still be ok. It's still reasonably mild here although Ireland is not blessed with the best temperatures. We have been keeping an eye on them to make sure they're not getting caught out if the temp does drop. The Silkies seem to be the first inside if there is any...

2 Chicks Died Suddenly, no symptoms.

We have 12 silkie chicks between 5 and 9 weeks old housed with 6 Buff Orpington and 1 White Orpington chicks all 6 weeks old. They have recently started to have access to a covered out door run-grass. Yesterday evening I found one of the Silkies dead in the run. No obvious injuries. All others...

    Brown Jersey Giants??

The top 2 are of the "Brown" and the bottom 2 is of what I believe is a Black JG. Both hatched from a batch of hatching eggs that we were told were JGs and Brahmas. The Brahmas I identified with relative ease. The others took a while as neither my hubby or I have any experience of JG. All the...

    Brown Jersey Giants??

I know of Black, Splash, Blue and White for Giants but is there a Brown? I have 2 chicks that hatched a couple of days ago that at first glance were Black but now I've had chance to handle them more, and better lighting, these guys are definitely Brown! I live in Ireland and I have seen a couple...
