my smallest hen is acting very sad. walking slowly, just hanging out by herself, either standing in the coop or standing in the dog kennel if the dog isn't in there.... shes very poofy, suddenly become very round all over, kind of looking like a basketball and just walking very slowly only when...
It's actually summer in Australia right now
I woke up to a thin, empty shell in the middle of the run so I think that was her problem, she's acting all normal now
they're about a year old, this chistmas will be their second. I feed them standard layer pellets from my local rural supply store, and have been since they started laying. I used to get a consistent 2 a day, but now there is no routine, which im fine with I don't eat eggs very often, I'm just...
Both of my girls were sitting in the dogs kennel, because the sun went down so they just looked for some where comfortable, so I turned on the back yard light and one of them got out, but the other just stayed there for another 20 minutes. Then she stood up, so I helped nudge her out of there...
My girls both seem to have messy vents, or just poop on their butt feathers
It's just a white substance stuck to one of my girls, and the other is just a tiny bit brown
Nothing major
But the one with the white substance also has a pale comb
They're both healthy, scratching around, not lost any...
I find when my girls get bored, they get loud. I've given them scraps everyday, and now I'm giving them seed blocks designed for wild birds. I hope it's safe for them, the loooove jumping for it
I'm not sure if my isa browns have started Moulting or they have lice? There's been a very big drop in egg production and there is feathers everywhere but ive heard that can happen with lice too and I thought they completely stopped laying during Moulting
Help?!

My girls have had two wrinkly eggs, and two so weak they cracked when i picked them up, once one was layed with no shell but not in the nest box (thank god) but i once got two double yolkers in a row and then they went back to their teeny tiny eggs, but i've never had blood on anything, just...
I was going to let them out when I noticed only one of them was in the run
So I openned the nest box thinking she might be in the coop on the roost for some reason but no she was in the nest box, she saw me, she dropped her egg. Didn't even make a sound.
