Baggy crop, feathers missing around neck, anti-social..

Hello all, 10 month old cross-breed has very large baggy crop (impacted i suspect) little appetite. Has lost all feathers around her neck - does not look like moult. I've looked for lice and can't see any. Her skin is okay. Generally anti-social, last to eat, doesn't dust bath, and really scared...

Why do chickens continue to poo during the night?

It'd be funny to chicken-cam them overnight. I wonder if they do anything else odd at night.

Why do chickens continue to poo during the night?

Just curious. Do other animals do this? Is it a bird thing? What is it about a chickens physiology that makes them keeping making droppings all night? Do they wake up as it happens or does it just drop out?

Grower crumble with coccidiostat for laying hens

After Googling and reading a couple of articles, residue of coccidiostat in eggs is not a desirable thing. However, these articles are based on large scale production & commercial supply. I could not find out exactly what the ill-effects of consuming the eggs would be. I wonder if a couple of...

Grower crumble with coccidiostat for laying hens

Thanks roos. I searched...and revealed more concern for whether the produce will be organic (particularly in legal terms), rather than actual health effects. I have sent an email to the feed company (Barastoc) and I'll update with response. My feeling is they will tell me to discard the growers...

Is it OK to use up GROWER pellets on Laying hens?

Hi all, Does it matter mixing up and still using the Grower feed if it is medicated with coccidiostat? Mine are 18 weeks now and I'm in the same situation with left over growing feed. What if they start laying while still eating the feed that's medicated? Will the eggs be affected for human...

When to STOP feeding medicated starter?

To add to your medicated feed woes and queries... My chickens are nearly 18 weeks old which is when I was told to switch from medicated grower crumbles to layer pellets. I still have a load of medicated grower crumbles to use up. Can I buy layer pellets and mix the two up? If the chickens begin...
