    Autosexing legbars

If I have a cream legbar rooster over opal legbar hens, would the chicks still be autosexing?

When should I check the eggs that haven't hatched

Eggs are at day 22. First time using our DIY incubator. 30 eggs looked good at day 18. 23 hatched on days 20 and 21. Two eggs hatched today, day 22. So I have 5 that haven't pipped. I really want to check those 5 eggs. What if they have internal pips and are dying in there?! I have auto...

Pip at the top of the egg.

This is then end of day 20. You can't see very well in the pic, but the egg at the too of the picture has a pip at the right end of the egg. So, it's at the top of the airsack. I have never seen this before. Will this chick be able to hatch itself? What happened? I know that I shouldn't...

    Help with humidity

I have 35 eggs in a homemade incubator. I think I had the humidity too high for the first week. I had it at 40 -50 percent. I turned it down now to 25 - 30 percent. The marks on the egg are the air sack at 7 days and today at 10 days. What do you think? Should I change the humidity?

How should I provide ventilation in our new DYI incubator?

I'm not sure how I should provide enough ventilation and would love some advice. The lid is just wood resting on wood and there is a 1x1 hole for the cords to come in, but it is holding the temperature extremely well so I am assuming it needs more ventilation. Should I drill some holes? if so...

    7.5 week old rooster crowing

We got a leghorn chick from a farm store that started crowing very young. I never checked the calendar on him but I figured he was around 2 months old. We had a broody hen hatch chicks from him so we were wondering if the one rooster we had from the hatching would start crowing early. Sure...

    breathing problems

I have a rooster that is having some labored breathing, wanting to perch most of the day under the heat lamp and I'm seeing some red muckus stringy type stuff in his droppings sometimes. I have him with one hen in a seperate coop with a heat lamp. I've given him Duramycin 10 and diatamacious...

    Marek's or something else...what should I do

I purchased eggs from a breeder off e-bay that had good reviews. A neighbor took some of the eggs to hatch and only had one hatch. I only had too. Her chick was weak and she asked me to take it and keep it with my other two. It seemed to get stronger but it had a dark bulge on it's underside...
