Some treats I give my freeranging hens to supplement are crumble and scratch grains, a handful of catfood on occasion, dishes of plain yogurt, cooked bits of pasta, tomatoes(favorite!)and other veggies, watermelon, figs when in season, cooked oatmeal and barley.

When Pearl was finished with her young-uns and started laying, we found this clutch in the dog house on our back patio! She now lays in the coop in our version of a nesting box...a new lidded cat litter box!

Thanks for the welcome everyone, and I know what you mean by "chicken math" now! I think I am a likely victim, because I've only had my flock for 6 months and I'm thinking about adding a couple more of different breeds! However, I'm not sure how they will get along with my Asil girls.

I have 3 hens that I recently found out were Asil's. Pearl(black) is the Momma, Penny(6mos-wheaton) and Snowy(6mos-white). However I think they are mixed because while I see some known characteristics, Pearl is a good layer. From what I've read the breed is not known to be good egg layers...
