Thanks...I was surprised I never received a single reply and thought maybe I posted incorrectly lol., It has been several years since I posted on this site. I actually live in Mexico now but I had experience hatching specialty breeds in the past and BCM's are always a bit tricky so I did decide...
My original plan was to dry hatch BCM’s (and then the others later) but now I’m thinking of including some Splash Ameraucanas. I’ve been researching and reading to death because it’s been a few years since I incubated. Years ago in FL I had FBCM’s that I incubated with some difficulty which is...
I was wondering about that this morning....so I didn't even get my 1 chance to get the Ameracauna lol ....I ended up with an EE?? and it's a Roo to boot
Thanks for the responses! Crazy how different the 3 Lavender Orpingtons Look
My BCM that turned very pink but is not defined at all. My last batch of these guys had VERY WELL DEFINED COMBS at this age and their tails were different .... this is the only one with a short stubby tail like the one I am positive is a pullet out of the Lav. Orps And BTW these pics were taken...
Looking very much like a pullet in this pic but when you see the pic of all 5 of these against my one little "for sure" Pullett ???
I just love this picture
This is my Roo No Question in the front ....the 2 Lavender Orps in the background are the ones I can"t really figure out
From here...
this was out first outingI decided not to let crazy Momma Lucy do all the raising she's a little nutty and I wanted them more used to me so I had separated her from them after about 2 weeks
No doubt about that little ROO
OMG I will never use a Broody hen in the heat of FL summer again ....I think the "higher temps give you Roos" could possibly be true!!! So here's what happened. My FBCM went Broody this summer and just WOULD NOT snap out of it ....kicking everyone out of their favorite nest box daily so I...

Here's the thread I started with pics of my 5 BCM's I was going to post weekly pics from start to maturity but...
I don't know anything about the wing test BUT I can tell you I have done a TON of research on Black Copper Marans ...breeding, hatching, raising, etc ....and while I've got varying opinions on some things determining sex was NOT one of them. Even some of the most experienced breeders I spoke to...

Well actually I'm starting to lean the other way on Chick #3....the one I have been holding out hope for anyway. The combs and wattles are not changing at all. On Blade and Zebra the wattles have become clearly a reddish pink and getting larger. And now the fathering on Chicks #1&2 is starting...
Hello Everyone. I was going to post a thread with pics and weekly updates and just haven't had time to "start from the beginning" But I wanted others to have something to compare their chicks to as I have pics and video even of them hatching. I've tried so hard this past week to find pics...
OH Geez!!! I thought FOR SURE with 3 looking 1 way and 2 looking the other it was kind of a no brainer .......well there is still no question about Zebra.....He's just a given. His wattles have even started to get a little pink and he has a much larger comb than everyone!
So you don't think the "tail" and the feathering is saying much right now??
Here's 2 pics from today of the 3 I think could be roo's ... just so you see how similar they all are. Would a pullet have a tail looking like this at 3 weeks?
Hello Everyone. I figured this would be the best place to post pics for the most accurate "guesstimates" lol. on gender of my FBCM's. I was going to post a new thread with pics and weekly updates...I may still do that, so others have something to compare it to as I have pics and video even of...
I'm so happy I found this thread!! I have 5 FBCM's and I've been reading and searching every night trying to find little clues here and there that might give me a little insight on what they heck I have! lol I'm going to post some pics for you all later today and see what you think. I've taken a...
That's so funny you said tricks. Ethyl, my turken will jump pretty high and always can grab even the tiniest treat I have for her. And she's awesome at catch! She lets me hold her and we walk around the yard together checking out new flowers and such....especially when she gets spooked. She will...
Thanks for the response! I wasn't super keen on opening the incubator BUT I thought from everything I've read and what everyone constantly says, the "MAIN" reason you aren't supposed to open it is due to the humidity. Well the few breeders I talked to about BCM's say they have much better luck...
I have 5 BCM's left out of 10. Today was "officially" day 21 for them but the 1st one arrived happy healthy and kicked right on out at 3:20am Wed night. The next 2 came within 15 mins of each other yesterday afternoon about 5. The next 2 were last night about 12:30 am & 2:30 am (that one needed...
