Hi all, I just posted a thread about the candler I made from household materials for free if you are interested. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/735048/my-home-made-candler
Here is today's video, day 16.
I used that home made candler and was able to see 'inside' the egg perfectly...
I have been using this candler my husband and I came up with, and I am happy with the results... I have been taking pictures and videos of the eggs I am incubating candled with it. (See thread...
Will do, Chippysmom327! :)
I made my candler out of a strange assortment of household items - a piece of styrofoam, a paint roller, an old empty peroxide bottle, newspaper and toilet paper, and an adjustable Mag-Light flashlight. It sounds impossible to make anything out of that assortment...
WIll do, Farmgirl44! I have 6 out of the 10 eggs that have babies in them. The other four are not doing anything. Two sort of got started but died or something and the other two were just empty, so probably never were fertile. SO, 6 in lockdown. lol.
Gabrielle1976, I don't let the girls...
I just candled- literally- and have three new videos. All good movement...I stop turning Thursday (day 18) so I will probably candle every day up until then. So yes, I will tomorrow, too. :) I hope they hatch safely...we've come this far. Come on, guys! lol :)
Here is one of the videos I...
That's so cool, Farmgirl44! I candled on day 13, which was a few days ago, I may candle again tonight and try to get better / clearer pictures... my camera doesn't perform well in the dark and I kept the lights out while candling to get the best contrast. Yes, please keep me updated, always...
Thanks, chippysmom327! Uh oh, let me try uploading it again.

Let's see if this one works. Sorry about that! lol
I made a post maybe a week ago (my first one on here..lol) about my incubator and the eggs that came with it. I have been dutifully keeping the temperature in the correct range (albeit one time the thing had got up to 111 degrees but luckily it wasn't like that very long), the humidity good...
Sounds great, thank you. :) After carefully watching the thermometer and humidity dials and getting it 'in the zone', I've marked the eggs and put them in at 7:05. The 'chicken seeds' have been planted. We'll see how this goes! :)
Hi all, I'm Sayward and I'm new to BYC.. Have been lurking on here forever but decided to go ahead and sign up. I am pretty bad about keeping profiles and stuff up on member sites but chickens are something I am really interested in so I'll probably be on here a good bit. I could talk all day...
