    Buff Orpingtons - sexing

The ones with darker spotting on the heads should be roosters. So out of the three shown are two roos and 1 pullet.

No the spots are just on the fuzz they go away. I don't have any pictures, all mine are too old as well.

Supposed to be pure breed Ameraucana.

Nah not a Marans, I say it is a mix of some sort.

What type of Orpington are this 3 chicks?

Lavender (self blue) and 2 blacks.

Supposed to be pure breed Ameraucana.

I would say your chick is not pure ameraucana, as someone who was sold an "ameraucana" before that is definitely an EE (maybe). EE's tend to be flighty and shy and ameraucanas are sweeter birds, I still want one. Also pure bred Ameraucanas are sold at a more premium price (around here anyway).

New chicks, breed and sex unknown, help please

Typically males feather out later than females, I would say Virginia is a Virgil. The other two seem to be feathering out nicely, my hopes are hen but I think it might be too soon to tell on them.

    Buff Orpingtons - sexing

The spot thing is a real thing. When they are young, before adult feathers come in they look like a few leopard spots on the back of the head... I asked an older woman about this when I bought them from her and she said, "some orpingtons have this spotting." Turns out she knew they were all...

I revise my former statement about the red one... after seeing the tail feathers... Rooster. I believe all 3 of them are roos.

Any guess as to this all black hen's breed? Maran? Americana?

I did not read where you got it from, I just looked at the pic. It does look like a Marans though... I have had one that looked JUST like that. However, I do not know much about ordering chicks and if she was pretty cheap, it probably isn't a Marans.

    Boy or girl?

I am not convinced the one in the middle is a roo, some hens have bigger combs than others. But the black for sure is and I would say the white is as well.

Any guess as to this all black hen's breed? Maran? Americana?

Also, not all marans have feathered feet.

Any guess as to this all black hen's breed? Maran? Americana?

Looks like it could be a Black Copper Maran... You will know when she starts laying eggs, they will be a darker brown than the rest.
