I have black, lavender and buff orpingtons what happens if I have a buff and lavender rooster over all my buff, black and lavender girls?? Will I get pure bred colors or is there bleeding of colors... what happens?? I have done the genetics calculator thing, but I do not know what the heck it is...
I would say your chick is not pure ameraucana, as someone who was sold an "ameraucana" before that is definitely an EE (maybe). EE's tend to be flighty and shy and ameraucanas are sweeter birds, I still want one. Also pure bred Ameraucanas are sold at a more premium price (around here anyway).
Typically males feather out later than females, I would say Virginia is a Virgil. The other two seem to be feathering out nicely, my hopes are hen but I think it might be too soon to tell on them.
The spot thing is a real thing. When they are young, before adult feathers come in they look like a few leopard spots on the back of the head... I asked an older woman about this when I bought them from her and she said, "some orpingtons have this spotting." Turns out she knew they were all...
I did not read where you got it from, I just looked at the pic. It does look like a Marans though... I have had one that looked JUST like that. However, I do not know much about ordering chicks and if she was pretty cheap, it probably isn't a Marans.
I am not convinced the one in the middle is a roo, some hens have bigger combs than others. But the black for sure is and I would say the white is as well.
