Worms and Lice - How to treat both?

Thanks, all :) Should I worry about using Sevin and Valbazen at the same time? If so, which should I do first?

Worms and Lice - How to treat both?

Yes, thanks! I have not found any signs on the chicks (I've checked them) but they did have access to the coop for a while, so I would think they'd been exposed. The only bird I can find eggs on is our silkie, who has some... Issues. She's not very bright. But since they're on her it seems...

Worms and Lice - How to treat both?

(Not surprised about poultry protector, either!) Another question, would spraying the coop with Oxine help at all?

Worms and Lice - How to treat both?

Thanks for the replies! Oh man, I really didn't do my research well, did I? We have too many girls for me to treat with coconut oil or vaseline, so that isn't really an option. We used Sevin dust once before, but have since read that it can be really harmful? Any truth to that? We also have a...

Worms and Lice - How to treat both?

We noticed two of our chickens have a bit of lice eggs at the base of their feathers. Most of our chickens aren't showing signs, a few have dirty buns, but we bought pour on Ivomec to treat them all, as well as Manna Pro Poultry Protector to clean the coop. We were planning to do it tonight...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Redmond, WA. I wasn't sure where you were getting all that information from, but it must be my signature? I can't see it on my phone! It must need updated terribly; we moved to a rural area outside of Redmond last May :) But we do have neighbors. It's funny, I know Call Ducks were developed as...

    Only two left...

Sounds like bringing them inside has helped a lot already :) Bossy, the injured hen, has stopped shaking and was standing (one one leg) this morning. I'm very happy to hear that! I did have them bring her friend in with her. I've encouraged them to keep her inside for up to a few weeks, and let...

    Only two left...

No, it isn't heated. We're in the NW so it's very damp type of cold right now. I'm not entirely sure how far my friend is able/willing to go with keeping the chickens indoors, etc. I'm tempted to bring the chickens to my house. (Not my coop, I understand bio security). We'll see. Poor hens.

    Only two left...

That's what I was afraid of. Is keeping the injured one immobile important? I'm trying to figure out a setup that could work for them. A big dog crate with a heat lamp in the garage? The hurt hen is in a small plastic tote in the house at the moment, with just a small bowl of food and water.

I'm also concerned about how warm the lone one will be all by herself at night, if anyone can speak to that.

    Only two left...

My friend had a dog get into her yard and run and kill all but two chickens a few days ago. I came to help her today, since she wasn't sure what to do. The remaining two are in shock. One is not hurt, the other is currently unable to walk. I haven't been able to really assess the injury, but I...

    Hen Injured Leg

I was moving a temporary coop that we have - its base is made of 4x4s - so it's heavy but not too heavy. Anyway, it was up on its side and I was putting it down, and one of our chickens ran under just as I was letting go to let it drop the rest of the way. I was able to keep it from landing on...

    California - Northern

Hey everyone! We're up in Washington now (Boo, it's so wet up here! We've already had mites and worms. Yuck.) but I need some advice and I trust you all more than any other chicken people. Our feeder has brutally killed two of our chickens. A little prong came loose and speared our favorite...

    Overdosed Valbazen

That's such a relief! Thank you!

    Overdosed Valbazen

My husband gave our tiny silkie the 1/2cc dose instead of the 1/4. Anything I can or should do for her? What outcome can we expect? We were treating for roundworms.

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello everyone! My family and I recently moved to the Duvall area. We have a one year old black silkie rooster we are needing to rehome (for free), and I was wondering if anyone might be interested in him here. I think he's a pretty good type, but honestly I'm not really sure. He has the fifth...

Do Ravens attack chickens???? Help please!

I just walked (well, ran) out of the house to see three ravens standing over our adult silkie. Our GSD chased them off, but they stayed in the tree for about 20 mins. Scary.

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello everyone! We are moving up to Duvall, WA this month. I was wondering if anyone knew of a 4H group in that area. I found one (I think) but no contact information, and thought there was a small chance someone on here might know. Thanks so much. If there are any neighbors with information...
