I have decided I do not have time to be involved in Fantails. So I am selling a group of 5 very nice birds. 2 pairs and a single hen. They are very nice quality and from 2 very noted breeders. Please email me for more info. I will ship them. Thanks.
Know where I can find the Standard for Showgirls? My questions are mainly about feathering(where it is)I know they are under the Silkie Standard. And does anyone know who is focusing on them, breeding nice quality? My first set of chicks are now 2 months and I need advice on what to keep.
Thanks
I have 6 showgirl chicks that are almost 2 months now. They are all white. Very nice quality, nice feet and toes. Excellent naked necks down to the body. Good foot feathering to middle toe. I can send pics. I am keeping 6 for myself and would like to trade half for another line. Either...
I spent the fall and winter collecting a nice group of Silkies. I have come to the realization that I do not have the time I wanted to put into them as I have other show animals. I am selling out of all of my Silkies. I am selling them as a group only at this point. And because of the amount...
My Silkie hen's chicks are now almost 2 months old. They are in my pole barn with mom and no lamp. I have another incubated batch in the garage brooder still that is almost 3 months.
#1- If I pull my 2 month old chicks from their mom and put them with the others similar in size will my hen...
I set 18 showgirl eggs on Saturday. Yesterday morning(Day 3)when I turned them in the AM I must have hit the power surge switch with the lid and shut it down. When I got home at 5 to turn I had eggs that were 65 degrees for 9 hours. Should I pitch them, or do you think they have a chance?
Thanks
My how they've grown. It's funny when you look at them in the brooder and then you take a pic and they are a different sex than you thought.
Let's hear your input on sex and quality. They are 8 weeks old. My guess, 1, 2, 3 pullet, 4 roo.
Thanks-

I have done this with success, and I am an amateur! I seperated my Silkies by themselves to avoid any issues once broody. I knew my broody was ready when she went at me like a pit-bull. I have a broody I gave two 1 day old chicks and the next day she hatched 2 of her own. All of this took...
I wanted to leg band my chicks. Forgot about it.
#1 At what age should they have them put on(Adult-band).
#2 Where do I get them?
They are Silkies.
Thanks-
Thanks to hinkjc, I got the idea to get my Silkie chicks out of the house and into the garage. My garage is very cold(MI), and after reading her post I saw the boxes she had built. Last weekend while gathering supplies to build I came upon this transport crate that was at our farm when we...
Sorry in advance if this a dumb question...
Do you cross bearded and non-bearded Silkies? Is it best to keep them seperate so you do not down-breed beard fluff and/or quality? Or is this not an issue?
Thanks-
Looking for young adult or adult Silkies in or near Mid-Michigan. But will travel to OH and IN. Interested in Roo's that are very nice quality. Will consider all qualities of hens and pullets. Please send me info if you have any.
Thanks-
I just went through my first "live Silkie hatch" and incubator hatch both were a success! Only because of the BYC. My eggs, including those I had shipped, went from bator to hen to bator....It's a miracle I have hatched anything, the story is way too confusing to tell. Let's just say at one...
I let my broody Silkie have her way. I am regretting this.
She is on 4 eggs like nobody's business, definately knows what she is doing. She raised a foster chick in November for her old owner. Her chicks are due to hatch today. I am in Michigan, it's very cold, 0 and below. She is on 2nd...
