Borotto Lumia 16 Egg Incubator for sale or Trade

I'm asking only $200, I paid $360 from Priemer supply! I don't use it so I figured someone else could put it to good use! I can ship, but I'll have to figure out on how to do that, and how much it will cost. Just to point out, I trimmed out a tiny section on the tray channels to prevent the...

    decapitated birds

Sorry for your loss, my guess would be a racoon. I had a flock of beautiful SQ RIR's that always greeted me. One day I found all dead in one night decapitated and there entrails eaten. Racoons will revisit in 3 day cycles! I took one of my dead birds and baited a live trap, the next day in the...

    Wrong End?

What's Up? The small end! If the large end of the eggs have been lower that the small end especially around the 14th day of incubation, they will become oriented to the wrong side! Once they get too big they cannot turn around. I was told at one point that they woundn't hatch, but mine always did!

    The Worst Hatch Ever!!!

Hello Alleyoops, It looks to me your temp was too high! You can never trust a thermometer to be accurate, check with another. They original thermometers with those incubator are not that accurate. The temp should be set at 102°F at the top third of the eggs I hope this info will help on your...

New Incubators and which one should I buy?

Hello, I bought a R-COM 20 incubator and had hatched my first batch last week. I have had many many different incubators including a Octagon 20, and I can say I really like the R-COM. The only thing I would be careful of with my experience with this unit is to make sure it is calibrated. What I...

Hello Deb, What is your incubator manufacturer? When you candled, was the air cell growth in the range that is recommended for the time period? Are you using a hydrometer to read moisture? I would highly recommend one if not. For me I weigh the eggs every few days. If you weigh each egg before...

    Homemade Hot water Incubator

I've gotten many questions on this, so try to answer in one posting. I am a woodworker and have studied many incubators from the 1900 - 1940's. This incubator was a proto-type of a Buc keye Bantam model. The cabinate was constructed of hardwood, this in a full 1 1/2" thick. Heating is...

    Hatching experience from new member

Hello, It won't hurt the other eggs, but is it because they (hatched chicks) are following a light source? Most chicks will move toward light when hatched. Some old incubator manufactures utilized this by placing a trap door on the egg tray towards the incubator door windows. The chicks would...
