    3 pix, what breeds, please?

It does look like those, but according to the guy I got the eggs from, he has none of those. So.... I did stumble upon a few pix of Serama chicks, and some looked like that one, too. So now I am leaning that way, esp since that is one of the types the guy has. LOL It is so fun watching them...

    3 pix, what breeds, please?

Here are three pix of my almost week old chicks. They are all bantams, and are supposed to be either: Silkie, Serama, Cochin, D'uccles, or Seabright. One has the frizzled gene coming out, too. Any ideas what is what? This is a group shot, showing the feathering coming out on the yellow ones...

    Question on bantam eggs hatching

So by the 31st day after setting I should chunk any not hatched? I just don't want to leave any and wait and wait to have them blow up on me. LOL I think they will probably all hatch, but just in case... Thanks!

    Question on bantam eggs hatching

This is my second batch of bantam eggs (mixed varieties). With the first batch they all hatched within about 24 hours starting on day 19. This time, on day 18 the first egg pipped and hatched late that day (yesterday evening). There are now 2 more eggs pipping (day 19). There are 12 more eggs...

My eggs are hatching and I won't be home!

If they pipped and are zipping already I would bet they will be fine. Sound like strong healthy chicks to me. :)

    Need some help please

I have a Welsh Harlequin duck and a Khaki Campbell drake - about 2 months old now. We have them in a decent sized pen, about 6x10. It has an old dog house for their coop, though they only use it when it rains heavy, otherwise they hang out under the large hydrangea bush. LOL There is a small...

    Moving outside?

Ok thanks! The coop I will moving them to is not the permanent one... it's more of a grow out pen really for bitties. A very safe way to move them outdoors to start off with, before they are moved to the portable pen. :)

    Moving outside?

The 3 bantam chicks I have are almost 3 weeks old. They have their wing feathers, and some of the tail feathers. One of them even has started using the roost bar I put in their cage. :) My question is this... in about a week or so I am expecting some more eggs to hatch. So knowing that the...

How are the eggs? Have you candled them, or have they hatched yet?

    Bantam chicks feeding tips

I had 4 chicks hatch about a week ago, but after about 3 days the first one died. No obvious reasons, no injuries, etc. After really checking over the others, I realized that their crops weren't full the way I thought they should be. So after talking to the guy I got the eggs from, I learned a...

Name this chick! And gender, too. :)

Here is a picture of all 3 of my chicks, about a week old now, showing their feathering starting. The smaller one on the right (solid black including feet, think it may be a rooster) has the longest feathering on his wings and has some tail feathers now. He also has lightly feathered feet. He...

    What, if any, vitamins/medications/etc

Excellent advice. I actually hatched them myself, so I think they are pretty healthy. They will be housed in a portable pen so as to have access to all the good stuff in the yard. :) Thanks so much for all the information!

    What, if any, vitamins/medications/etc

do I need to give my ducks and chickens on a normal basis? Right now the ducks are getting just regular mash and water, the 1-week old chicks are getting medicated chick starter and water with a little ACV added to it. But as they get older what all will they need as far as meds and wormers and...

    Sudden death ?s

I looked it over really good and found nothing wrong... no blood, no messy behind, nothing. I don't know what happened... I will add a little acv to the water though, just in case. Thanks!

    Sudden death ?s

As some of you may know, I had 4 chicks hatch out over the last few days, one being born defective that I had to euthanize. Well, the first hatchling who was strong, friendly and active as of last night died. I woke up this morning to him/her laying in the middle of the brooder. :( There was no...
