I meant to say thats looks like the size of my one of my bantam chickens. Lord if they ever laid something that big I'd pass out
i figured that's what you meant!
there was nothing different about the shell it was just massive and 2 full sized yolks. It's delicious
found this in the nests this morning
here it is next to an average sized egg
My jaw dropped open when I saw it but all the girls are just dandy (no one is walking sideways or anything LOL). We get a big egg here and there but never THIS BIG

I thought you had it but the pic of the campine chicks is much different then what these looked like. here's an above shot from the day we found them

i'm not sure, they seem smaller then our hens were at this stage but our hens are all heavy breeds so I'm not sure how to judge that.. plus I really dont know how old these are
A few weeks ago someone dumped baby chicks in our yard. 3 managed to survive and now I'm wondering what kind of chicks they are

Thanks, I use a Canon A540 point and shoot. It's a few years old, eats batteries but it's nice for a point and shoot. I'm trying to save up to buy a DSLR

sadly, we lost one chick. She was the super noisy one that always seemed cold no matter what we did. The others seem fine and have settled even more now that she's passed
thanks everyone. I got some great advice today from ntvheart on twitter. She recommended putting a stuffed animal in with them. The loudest chick, while still loud, is not crying as much and has snuggled up under the ear of the dog beanie baby:lol:
some pics from today
these four are SO LOUD> Way louder then my other chicks were at this age. I only managed to get a few broken up hours of sleep. The incessant peeping kept me up! All four fared well. i went out today to hunt around again for the 5th but I'm thinking it's gone
also, the feral chickens tend to stick to downtown which is 2 miles or so away. there is a fruit stand, a fast food joint and multiple businesses that make sure they have fresh feed and water out.
