    Khaki Campbell duck or drake??

His quack is in between the two. Definitely not as vocal as my other duck but not the quiet drake as in most of the videos. With the penciling on the feathers it just made me question gender a little more. My daughter thinks we should call him Z because of the gender neutrality appearance 😆

    Khaki Campbell duck or drake??

I guess it’s good I already have a home for it then:cool: Too bad tho. He’s extremely social and would probably have been a good friend for my other but I’m not building a separate coop for just two ducks nor putting my existing gal through the romances of an excited drake. My duck would miss...

    Khaki Campbell duck or drake??

Weird story. A friend of mine found a khaki Campbell or khaki mix that was dumped at a local park. It is very friendly and seems to think it needs to be inside. It was dehydrated and underweight. I have it isolated from the rest of my flock and it is looking a lot better after a week. I was...

Baby chick walks like penguin please help!

Most of what I found leads me to suspect it was a vit d deficiency. It doesn't seem very common or I think more people would be on it. I was feeding an all grain starter and I dont think they were eating the vitamin parts of the food. I used the baby vit with out iron and the sling but I think...

anyone ever sew a chicken back together?

Just found one of the girls with a huge L shaped gash under her right wing. Skin is completely ripped open. There is no fowl odor or inflammation but she is lethargic. My mom sewed a hen together after a dog got it when I was little and it lived many more years but I cant remember what she...

Help! fever, panting, wet vent, unable to stand

Baby Poopoop is now able to raise herself onto her hocks and is back to being fiesty- she glared at and pecked the cat in the head when it got too close to her food. She is starting to try to raise herself all the way up but isn't quite there yet and has only been able to get up about three...

    Gurgling Rooster

Aww poor girl! Looks like the pictures I've seen of coryza. I hope you were able to find the right medications! That's a pretty scary disease. I would also start cleaning everything everyday and separating them out. Definitively keep the new girls separate and disinfect everything and...

Help! fever, panting, wet vent, unable to stand

Thanks for replying! I am giving her oyster shells with her food and I don't expect much from a first egg. I was actually surprised at how normal it looked other than the thin shell. I have her in a sling I made from some old undies. She can move her legs but they seem weak. She kinda uses them...

Baby chick walks like penguin please help!

I'm sorry I just saw this. I hope your's turned out better than mine. I was able to find some ideas online to make chick slings out of cottage cheese containers and a sock to support him (I now believe he was a rooster) while I kept his legs taped in their proper place. I gave poly-v-sol...

    Gurgling Rooster

Is it smelly, discolored, thick discharge? Any swelling? Is their poo normal or.... I would start them on a round of antibiotics and maybe give a supplement to start. Do you have a heat lamp? Are they getting chilled at night? If you have walked at your neighbors and then walked around your...

PLEASE ADVISE - Whats my next step?

Are there other symptoms? What's the poop look like? Pay really close attention to everything- sometimes you don't realize a symptom is a symptom until hindsight. I would try duramycin and adding electrolytes to their water, both of which you should be able to find at your feed store. I use...

Help! fever, panting, wet vent, unable to stand

Soo, my little girl has become a woman. This is the most traumatic first egg experience I have ever been a part of. As of this morning she doesn't have the use of her legs back yet. I put her in a sling so she could stop thrashing around and she seems more content in the box. I have been...

Help! fever, panting, wet vent, unable to stand

I just finished doing a 25 min warm water soak which she seemed to relax during. Breathing seems normal and temperature seems back to normal but she is still lethargic and not able to stand. I was able to get her to drink a little and she had a normal if not liquidy poo. Any insights on my...

Help! fever, panting, wet vent, unable to stand

I found my splash maran hen on the ground panting hard, unable to stand, and hot to the touch. I don't feel a bulge around her vent although it seems swollen and wet though not red . She hasn't laid any yet and is about 6 mos old. My roo has been randy lately, she does have have a peck sore at...

How can I keep chicks leg in place?

Chick can stand and walk normally but will lock its legs so it ends up walking on hocks. Trying to figure out a way to keep legs in correct position. Tried a wrapped wire frame but got out. Tried a baby sock sling with wrapped legs and it got out. Any other ideas or links to better slings?
