Beautiful buffs!! I have 10 of them, 1 rooster and 9 hens! Started out with 12 birds but had 2 roosters so I gave a rooster and a hen to one of my day care kids cause he loved them and wanted to add them to his chickens he already had. Mine are only 3months old! They are all very sweet !!

I always do the water bath method for canning my tomatoes and have never had any problems. Also I dry my herbs in my dehydrater or hang them upside down. Also basil can be chopped up put into icecube trays and add olive oil or water and freeze. If you have chickens they love the herbs in their...

You might want to try clematis there as that likes shady feet and it grows up and has pretty flowers. I have 2 growing on my pergola with grapes.

Definitely use the DE at the feed store, there is another DE used in pools that is not to be used on anything else. I read up on the lasagna gardening in the spring and am planning on building one this fall

I use DE. I haven't had any problems I had read an article on deep liter and it said to put a sprinkling of DE down before you put new shavings, after looking it up it is safe to use and I have read it works. I have started using it on my dog since reading an article in Mother Earth News on...

Hi everyone! Haven't been on lately as my computer keeps freezing up! My buffs decided to finally venture out on the lawn this past week end. They were so cute, now they want to be out all the time but we have quite a few hawks so they are only out when I am out there too. Not that I would be...

How do you do your deep litter method, I have been reading about it and some say to sprinkle DE over before adding more shavings and others say don't. I want to do my coop that way and was wondering which way is better. Thanks Cyndi

Pretty sure it's 7 x 10 . We have 10 BO hens and 2 roos. Hopefully that is enough room for them if not we will be building on!! They are only 6 weeks old so they look pretty small in there. We still need to frame out the door, paint, put in nest boxes, insulation and walls plus a run, but for...

Thanks to all you let me know that the red faced one is a roo, but I have 2 of those ! The rest of them don't have any red. Will the 2 of them fight? One is larger then the other and he seems to be the leader. Hoping with 10 hens the 2 will get along!
