Muscovy Duck Rescue in Navarre, Florida!

If anyone is able and willing, there are about 30 Muscovy ducks at the entrance of Holley By The Sea in Navarre, (Sunrise Drive and Navarre Parkway intersection), that are being threatened and need to be relocated before they are destroyed. If you are able to help re-home these ducks to your...

Bantams and Standard chickens...can they co-exist?

I have 5 bantam chickens that I raised from chick; 2 are roos, 3 hens; I rescued a standard size BR Roo; is it possible for them to co-exist without killing each other? Or is it a chance I shouldn't take? If they can co-exist in the same run, how do I introduce them?

Chicken with Upper Respiratory?? Video link included!

I went outside tonight to shut the coop and heard "snoring". I went in to investigate and one of my hens had this weird breathing, (see link). I brought her inside in a temporary pen away from the others, (none of them were sounding this way) and did a thorough look over. Her eyes are bright...

    Dog vs. Wild animal

My question is this: Normally, dogs will "play" with a chicken, ie - shake it to death like a ragdoll and leave it dead, maybe ripped apart; but, do wild animals do the same or will they drag it off to eat, bury, or what? I am 99% certain all 5 of my chicken deaths (4 happened the same day)...

    "Gonzo" the Bantam(?) roo!

Hey! Not sure what this rescued chicken is...may just be a mix, but i'm curious to see what you all think. I also think he is a Bantam, but I could be wrong there too...he was a rescue, and I am certain that he has stopped growing, but he still has some downy feathers with his "big boy" ones...

Small flocks vs. industry: Are we a threat?

I was recently at a veterinary converence in Destin (GVMA) and, as a veterinary technician, I like to learn more so I signed up to go. I found that they had a 2 day poultry discussion that I wanted to attend, mainly to find out more information about disease, etc. I have to admit, most of the...

Hen has cloudy eye! Any suggestions?

I have 4 RIR hens and one of them isn't laying eggs anymore, but I can't tell which one. Noticed only 3 eggs three days ago and have been this way since. Today, I did a thorough exam on all of them, they have full crops, (Normal, not crop-bound), they don't feel fat or too thin, they are all...

    Smoked chicken...

*Kills husband for laughing at the title.* In all seriousness now... This morning my sister opened up our coop and was distressed to see smoke pouring out. (Not a lot, could see through to the back of the coop). We have ventilation in the coop, but it is a small 4' X 4' x 4' coop. with 2'...
