    Fearful Pekin! HELP!

I have 3 Pekin ducks and 2 Rouens ducks. Even though I have raised all 5 from ducklings, The Rouens have always tried to run from me. I started giving them scratch and now they hang out under my feet all the time. You may want to try that. It will soon realize that you will not harm it. Richard

Pullets layed 1st egg. Is it safe to eat the medicated egg?

Thanks. I wasn't sure, I got another one today and feed it to the pig. We got pullet eggs from our other birds, but I had them on layer for about 6 weeks before they started laying.

Pullets layed 1st egg. Is it safe to eat the medicated egg?

I have 6 White Leggers and 2 RIR's that should be laying soon. The leggers were born 2nd week of December, so they should be around 17 weeks old. When we went out to feed up today, we had a very small white pullet egg. The question I have.... We just took them off of Medicated Chick Starter 5...

    next question tonight... nesting material...

I use pine shavings in their nesting boxes. However, I read somewhere on here to put a piece of scrap carpet in the bottom of the nesting boxes and then add the shavings. This will prevent egg breakage and thus far I haven't had a problem. The shavings get built up around the edges but the...

    Chicks acting weird

Put a thermometer in the brooder where the chicks are (under the light). Should be at 95* the first week and then drop 5* each week after until they are fully feathered and can go outside.

2 Frizzles with their eyes matted shut.

Said to say, but I had to cull the white Frizzle today. It didn't seem to be getting better and I didn't want it to suffer anymore. I went ahead and started treating all of the chicks with the eye drops just for good measure and hopefully prevention.

2 Frizzles with their eyes matted shut.

pips&peeps : If it is coryza, they will be carriers for life. Any bird on your property will get this disease. Any new bird you bring onto your property will get it also. How do I know if they have it? Also, will all carriers show signs of the disease? or will a bird have the disease and...

2 Frizzles with their eyes matted shut.

The person that I bought the frizzles from, I also bought 2 jerseys and they are doing great. I would hate to "cull" them if I don't have to. I want to heal them if possible. I went to another feed store that deals with equestrian and purchased the Terramycin eye gel ($$) today. When I got...

I found a website that will tell you what every medication is for chickens (it also offers info for other animals as well). I just thought that if anyone else has chicken problems as well maybe this could help you too. http://www.drugs.com/vet/chickens-t.html Richard

2 Frizzles with their eyes matted shut.

I went to my feed store and they didn't know what to do, so they called Ideal Poultry (where they buy their chicks from) and the guy there told to me to put Neosporin on their eyes and put Terramycin in their water. Is this the same that you are talking about? How long does it normally take for...
