Check out Polish hens, not known for cold hardness but mine stand up remarkably well! Also check out Hedemoras and Cream Legbars, fantastic, cold hardy birds especially the hedmoras!

Campbell's have the best laying, but I much prefer the temperament of a harlequin. If it were me I would get the harlequins. Some runner varieties can also lay blue or green eggs as well.

Okay, its getting later in the season and no one likes to think about what's to come. However, I would like your opinions on how to water and allow my ducks to swim in the cold winter months. Do you have a waterer in the coop, if so what is it and how is it working out.

At the moment the firequackers live with my chickens in a shaving filled coop and are making a royal mess in the corner they sleep in. In the spring there is a strong possibility of them moving out and getting a place of their own. What bedding do you use and/or what bedding do you recommend.

My roo has eye swelling shut from the sores , I am fairly certian that its the dry, I applied blue kote to the sores to dry them up

Mine would always eat whatever we put it in and then spit out the pill without fail. You have a very good duck

To pill a duck you need to put the pill on the roof of their mouth and slide it back using the roof of their bill as a guide until it goes down. Hope this helps! It does take a good bit of practice
