How much food per day for chicks?

Thanks for the info CT. I've been in the chicken business for a little while now and am looking to cut feed costs and am being quite successful with my layers. I'll just feed them as much as they want. That's what I've been doing anyhow. Thanks ;)

    Bread for chicks?

I would like to start feeding my chicks bread along with there 20% protein grit. I already have chickens and give them a loaf a day and they love it. Also, I can just go to my bread store and pick up a trash bag of bread for 5 bucks(), so you can see why I might want to feed my chicks bread...

    Buff Orpingtons in Louisiana

Hi ya'll! I live in hot, humid Louisiana ( it got to 110 degrees on Monday). I want to get Buff Orpingtons, but I am concerned they won't make it through the heat. If I give them a nice, shady spot and ice cold water 24/7, will they make it?

Mixing Red stars with Buff Orpingtons

Hello! In October I will be ordering 30 chickens. 15 will be Red stars and 15 will be Buff Orpingtons, but I have been doing a lot of research and found that the Orps are lower in the pecking order. So, I was wondering if it was alright to mix the two.

What grains are essential to chickens?

Thank you for answering! Yes, Centarchid, they free range 13 hours a day and pick up many bugs on their way, but I could add some soybeans to their diet.
