    Buttonquail chicks won't eat/drink

Hi all, new to buttonquail here. This is my second hatch. The first group is doing well. They are about 5 weeks old now, no problems. Second group is 2 days old. None of them will eat or drink. Two of them have died already. I'm frantic. Help! What am I doing wrong? PN

Predator proofing your chicken tractor for broilers

I am planning for building tractors for broilers and am confused. It seems like nobody secures the bottom of the tractors for broilers, like they do for their layers. Am I missing something? lol Something would dig under and kill my birds in a day or two. Thanks!

    Olive green duck egg?

First time with ducks. I have 4 cayuga mixed girls. Have been getting nice size, cream colored eggs for about a week or so, one or two a day. Today I have 1 small, olive green egg. The only other birds in the coop overnight were seramas who have not laid any eggs yet. This egg is about 2inches...

    Coop for 40 chickens

So I was just offered a small school bus for only $400! I think I'm going to try to make it work. I can open lots of windows, it's up off the ground, and nothing can chew through it (darn rats!). Thanks for your help. I'll let you all know how it goes!

    Coop for 40 chickens

These rats are the worst predator. I am at my wits end trying to defeat them! We are near a couple of commercial storage places and I think that makes it even worse. Ugh!

Topic of the Week - Dogs and Chickens

I just recently got an 18 month old great pyr/Anatolian/akbash mix. She's beautiful and great with the chickens. My problem is that she was raised in a house and refused to stay outside alone. She barks loud enough to wake the neighbors almost a 1/4 mile away. Any tips on training her to stay...

WEIRD or ODD Eggs pics!!!! :)

No, not solid. I cut into it easily and it was clear gel inside. The egg was perfectly normal other than this little thing. It's about half an inch across.

This was inside a super jumbo egg, along with one normal yolk. I stabbed it with a knife and it is filled with a clear gel. Any ideas?

    Broody Hen Thread!

So, I have a sweet little bantam Cochin sitting on a few eggs. One day she got off the nest and couldn't get back on for a few hours. The eggs got cold. When I realized she was stuck off the nest I helped her back on and fixed the problem. She has been faithfully sitting ever since. Monday is...
