Laying on the drop board :(

How can I get one of my chickens to stop laying on the drop board? I need to fix this! I will find them broken and on the floor sometimes and now they are starting to eat them. I have tried a few things like when I see her up there ready to lay, I put her in the nest box. But then she just...

    Dry Stall vs Stall Dry

I wanted to buy Stall Dry which I believe is a mixture of DE and clay but instead, bought Dry Stall which is volcanic aggregate. Dry Stall (volcanic aggregate) looks like small tiny crushed rocks and thinking it was the same thing, I added it to the sand in my run. I really wanted to use it...

    Ameracauna roo?......HELP!

She looks like mine and I got mixed answers. Some said she and others said he. Maybe yours look more girlish. Coloring is similar to mine though. Here is my thread. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=517581&p=1

    EE Roo or hen please?

Quote: Well hello there! I'm giving away some of my pullets this morning but she doesn't want any boys. I think I will leave this one home just in case. I'll keep you posted later if I see eggs or hear crowing going on.

Beautiful bird! I just seem to be worried about my chicken's saddle feathers. They seem a bit longer than yours but I hope you are right.

Heat lamp & nearly a fire - Alternatives?

Loved it! My chicks were hardly under it. They just ducked under from time to time to get warm and then they were off playing again, just like they would do with mama hen. Very cute seeing them all snuggled under it at night time.

Heat lamp & nearly a fire - Alternatives?

Loved the EcoGlow! They seemed happier and adapted better when they went out to the coop too! Makes me rethink how much we overheat these chicks.

How do I get the light off in the coop? They are scared of the dark.

I have a little Christmas candle in my coop's window on an electric timer. It goes on just before dusk and off at about 10pm. It is just enough for them to see to come into the coop at night.

    My chicks LIVE!!!

I use Ustream.com to host my broadcast. They have free hosting software you can download too. I have a wireless camera out in the coop. Seems to work great. I was able to watch my chicks when I put them out in the coop for the first time. They are 5 1/2 weeks old now and they are going in...

Chicken cam - my chicks are in the big girl coop.

I was so nervous for my 4 week old chicks last night. It got down to 22 degrees outside and 48 degrees inside the insulated coop. Even though I have an EcoGlow brooder out there, I plugged in the heat lamp with a 150 watt red bulb. This morning Everyone seemed just fine and enjoying all their...
