    You are all awesome!!! Thank you. Any thought on her breed? Just while we are at it :) we are making a pen for ducks and a pond area. They are not going back in coop and chicken run. I really hope this is the reason and it stops! I will keep you all posted.

    So do you think it could be the ducks? I have been observing and I am out there a few times a day and that is what I have been noticing is the ducks trying to get on my hens. I seperated them today. The layer pellets are 18%.

    I have had to cull 4 hens! This hen started with the same vent problem today and I know it will just get worse despite my efforts. I am kind of new to this.     Yes feathered feet! I just hatched some chicks and 3 are for sure from him...all have the cutest feathered feet! And he has made a liar out of me! I swear on my life...I have never heard him crow and I am out with my chickens ALOT. as soon as I posted this I was inside and could hear a rooster...

    This awesome rooster was given to me a yr ago. I have no idea his breed or age. No info from past owners. He is very nice. He makes sure everyone is in the coop before he goes in and if someone isn't cooperating he just patiently plants himself outside the coop until I come out to settle...

    No new hens to the flock. The last two hens that died had vent issues from my research I thought it was prolapsed vent. The vents were protruding and bleeding.     I witnessed for the first time my hen laying an egg! However, it was not a good experience! For past few weeks I have had some blood smears on some eggs and now I know why. She bled while laying and then after the egg dropped continued to bleed and also a bit of yellowish discharge stuff came...
