    general rule of thumb - I provide 4 square feet per chicken inside and 10 feet in the run. and I still let my girl free range most days. so 8 chickens - you want at least 32 square feet 16 feet is ok for 4 chickens and even then a little crampt.... Ritch

    Painting a Dark Color for the winter

    dark colors will attrack more heat - so it might not be a bad idea unless you live in a warm climate. if you need to use a fan or AC in the summer.... dont paint it dark unless you really will paint it again in the spring. I painted mine dark red outside and off white inside - the light color...
