Ok, I give up. What's the trick to getting the lockdown humidity to 65% and keeping it there? Both wells are full. It is slowly rising. I used room temperature water. Even if it manages to crawl to 65 (which i doubt) how am I going to keep it there without opening the lid for lockdown?
Poor thing. :( You have had a great hatch tho. I wonder if it's little leg is broken. We had one that has a messed up leg that we bought from a hatchery. We didn't notice it until it was too late to splint it but we didn't kill her. She limps but she still lays and is fine otherwise. I've read...
Will do! TY! Actually 2 of them are zipped. One pip I can see moving. Then I believe there are two other pips after that. It's getting hard to keep up because it's getting crowded in there with the babies and the mess. They keep rolling the other eggs around and making it harder for me to see...
Yes, this morning there are 9 with 4 more pipped. Wondering how long I should leave the dry babies in there. I know they live on the yolk for 24 to 48 hours and some people say 3 days but I know some are stronger than others in general and I don't want to push my luck. I also don't want to lose...
Currently only 4 have hatched. Two are making good progress. One other has a small pip. They were shipped eggs. I did let them sit 12 hours before setting them. I would have let them sit for 24 but I was worried about the already spent shipping time. They just started pipping at 8pm central time...
Yeah sounds like yours works a little better than mine. Mine was fluctuating more like 10 to 15%. If I didn't add water it would drop waaaay down. So I'd add water, then it would shoot waaay up. So the next time around I'd add less water than before etc. but I'd have to constantly watch it...
Thanks A roo or two. Tonight at 10 pm central time will be exactly 21 days. I just got my first pip an hour ago. I tried to keep it around 45 for the first 18 days. There were nights when it dropped to 20 but never below. Constantly having to add water and then open vents etc to keep it around...
It has a fan. I used it for guinea fowl and it did ok but it's a lot of fuss the entire time. Constantly keeping an eye on the humidity which is constantly dropping and rising. I believe I'm at 99.5 and 65 humidity currently. That's IF the acurite thermometer is correct. It's the one I used to...
Today is hatch day for us. We have 29 Black Copper Maran eggs in a crappy farm innovator incubator. I'm a nervous wreck! I have only hatched guinea fowl before. Of course the settings on the bator are completely useless so I have other thermometers in there. My humidity has been inconsistent...
