Mine run for cover, usually under the trailer rain or snow I have to go out and get them in the coop. Sometimes carrying them as they don't want to get wet.
So carry like a football bent over. My girls are girly girls. Lol
I feed my girls as much as they can eat as well as fruits and veggies cut up small for them. They jump when they know I have something for them. I grow fodder of wheat, black oil sunflower seeds, barley they love it. Winter they need these things.
I don't plan on breeding Toby, if I get chicks it's cause they hid an egg :( . But he and the puppy play on occasion till he doesn't any more. Daisy thinks he is another puppy, go figure.
I would be too sad if I had to get rid of Toby, he protects his girls inc the turkey with a vengeance.
Was asked the type they are - have one each of WHT Crested Black Polish ST. R , Amber White Hen, Golden Sex Link, New Hampshire Red Pullet,
Brown Leg Horn, Rhode Island Red, And Araucana for colored eggs for hubby
The red ones are red sex links.
I have the new babies and what they are on the fridge. They are a riot already.
I will put what they are tomorrow, as hubby has to get up in the morning.
I am so excited, I got actually 4 more than he wanted me to :D but couldn't help it.
Poor things, I understand. We finially have good weather and I put the girls outside. They are still n the box inside since the coop flooded.
Bertha comes to the back door to be put in the box to lay her egg.
But, sympathies with the snow. Mine would rather walk in the mud outside than in snow...
My girls don't like the snow either, we had a storm and the girls were out. Red went in before it hit, Runner and Bertha poor things were paralyzed.
They were just standing there not moving, I had to pick them up and put them in the coop. They were so happy to be warm and dry.
I let them out for...
I have a 10' X 14' coop enclosed, the hen house is inside this for my 3 girls. For heating purposes I have put a tarp over the hen house tied to the coop and heater underneath. The straw I use for insulation as well. My girls do Not like snow.
My question is this, I plan on getting 5 to 7 more...
I did a mix of BOSS with other seeds it turned out well, they ate every bit. The BOSS grows slower so the other seeds were bigger sprouts, it didn't seem to matter.
Wanted to crow about my girls. All are laying again :), the first row is Red the 2nd row is Runner and 3rd is Bertha.
My girls are awesome. Can't wait to get more this spring
I put a thin layer as my tray is not large, I rinse with cold water and set it over the sink to drain for a bit before putting it in the
Bottom tray. As I rinse I shake gently to spread them out again after spraying. Knock on wood, I haven't had any mold.
Doing BOSS now and already sprouting.
